It was the correct protocol that an individual who is no longer in service should NOT bear The Monarch’s insignia, ‘E II R’ as Her Majesty, though deceased still held certain Regalities until her interment service, the removal of the symbols of Office – The Crown, The Orb & The Scepter from her coffin and the breaking of her Wand, which was placed on the Coffin for the final interment – In fact, it was by generous dispensation of The King that The Duke of Sussex was permitted to wear any uniform (or should it now be The Count of Montecito [CAVEAT: Beware of spelling his wife’s title it would not be similar to her recent story published in the similarly named NY magazine]).

In real terms, as he is neither a serving soldier nor in service of The Monarch the uniform is, as with Andrew & arguably Prince Edward Duke of Wessex, little more than fancy dress.
Prince Edward served for rather less than 3 month and failed his training by going AWOL from The Royal Marines, some years ago.

The Count of Montecito did serve on 2 short tours in Afghanistan, whilst in The Army , where he was dubbed ‘Helmand Harry’ as he seemed not to leave the base on active service but spent much of his time with his close protection team, playing video games.

Prince Andrew on the other hand served in very much the front line in The Falkland Islands, where, by reports of associates of mine, he acquitted himself well flying repeated missions, in his helicopter, into the thick black smoke over the burning & exploding deck of the Sir Gallahad, rescuing a substantial number of soldiers & sailors, many of whom were terribly wounded.

We understand Prince Andrew committed no crime – merely befriending Epstein, an alleged paedophile and procurer, as did President Clinton, President Trump, Bill Gates and many other widely published and well-known individuals where it is CLAIMED he was serviced by a young (of legal age) prostitute in Epstein’s employ! He saw fit to avoid the potential of a tasteless Court case, on the request of his Mother, to spare her anguish in her final year, a luxury she could well afford.

Had the Count of Montecito refrained from drawing attention to the lack of Royal Cypher on his epaulettes, in his quest for victim status on which to denigrate his family for money, it would have been unlikely no one would have noticed – Even so, it may yet be shown to be a genuine oversight, in that it was an issued uniform that may well have borne no Cypher as it was awaiting the supply of ‘C III R’ insignia in consideration that Her Majesty would shortly no longer be alive!

May I take the liberty, whilst commenting on missing items on the apparel of the principal mourners, I was somewhat surprised to note that The Count of Montecito’s principal partner & apparent manageress, saw fit to wear a black dress, without full sleeves! As far as I could see, of the 2,000 mourners in Westminster Abbey & the 800 or so in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor she was the ONLY person dressed thus!

It is my personal opinion that there is suitable precedent as to how our King should treat his wayward son – Just as Her Majesty, The Queen’s Mother treated her husband’s elder brother Edward, who, having surrendered his Royal duties, became persona-non-grata in Britain, due to the inappropriate woman he chose to marry.
