Hi,

‘The world will know he’s innocent’: Lockerbie bomber’s son launches fresh appeal to clear his father’s name claiming he has new evidence

  • Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi was found guilty in 2001 of planting bomb which destroyed a Pan-Am jumbo jet over southern Scotland in 1988
  • Now his son Ali, backed the British relatives of those who died in the atrocity, is to ask Scottish authorities to declare the conviction a miscarriage of justice
  • Megrahi’s family have also now formally become part of the appeal process
The son of the Libyan convicted of the Lockerbie bombing is launching a fresh appeal to clear his father’s name and has declared: ‘The world will know he is innocent.’
Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi was found guilty in 2001 of planting the bomb which destroyed a Pan-Am jumbo jet over southern Scotland in 1988 – killing 270 people in the worst act of mass murder ever carried out on British soil.
Now his son Ali, backed by his family and the British relatives of those who died in the atrocity, is to ask Scottish authorities to declare his father’s conviction a miscarriage of justice.

Within weeks, the son of the man who came to be known as the Lockerbie Bomber, will present a dossier of documents and new evidence to the Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission (SCCRC).
He said: ‘We believe as a family that my father is innocent. My father knew he would die one day, so he gave us all the evidence for his case and it is with me right now.
‘Injustice is there to see, because there is new evidence that has never been handed to the court of Scotland or any other place.
‘I want the opening of the case again, and we are ready to give all the new evidence from start to finish and the world will know that my father is innocent.

I want to tell the victims of the massacre and the people living in Lockerbie: ‘I want you to give him a chance so that you will know the truth.’
‘The evidence that will be put forward to the court will show the innocence of my father.”
Megrahi’s son added that the case would be re-opened ‘pretty soon’.
After being found guilty of the bombing, Megrahi served his sentence in a Scottish jail.

From prison he referred his case to the SCCRC – which ruled in 2007 that there were several grounds for considering there may have been a miscarriage of justice.
But despite the apparent vindication he had received from the SCCRC, Megrahi – who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer – dropped his appeal. Soon afterwards he was controversially freed from jail on compassionate grounds and flown back to his native Libya, where he died in May 2012.
Campaigners including Dr Jim Swire, whose daughter Flora was among the passengers killed when the Pan-Am flight was blown out of the sky, tried to persuade the SCCRC to re-open the case in a bid to overturn Megrahi’s conviction posthumously.
But the SCCRC ruled it could only look at the case again if Megrahi’s family formally became part of the appeal process – which is now happening, the Scottish Mail on Sunday can reveal.
In November, Scottish lawyer Aamer Anwar flew to Zurich with Dr Swire to meet Megrahi’s son Ali and widow Aisha to collect documents relating to the appeal and to Megrahi’s estate.
Last night Mr Anwar declined to discuss the case, saying only that it was at ‘a sensitive stage’.

But Dr Swire confirmed the case is progressing. He said: ‘I’m starting to believe that by the 30th anniversary in December 2018, we must have progress. With Baset’s family now able to prove it is on board, I really believe the justice system has nowhere to hide.
‘The commission cannot go back on its findings of a decade ago that there may have been a miscarriage of justice, and there is an absolute avalanche of fresh forensic information that will destroy a case already picked apart ten years ago.’

Megrahi’s oldest son, Khaled, said: ‘I know that one day the truth must go out. The last words my dad said were that one day God will show the truth.’
Pan Am 103 blew up over Lockerbie on 21 December 1988 killing all 259 on board and 11 people in the town.
At first suspicion fell on Palestinian terrorists, possibly acting for Iran as retaliation for the shooting down of an Iranian Airbus by the US.
But the focus of investigators later switched to Libya – in particular former intelligence agent Megrahi and his colleague at Libyan Arab Airlines, Lamen Khalifa Fhimah.
In 1999, Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi handed the pair over for trial under Scots Law in a special court in the Netherlands on the former US base at Camp Zeist.
In January 2001, three judges, sitting without a jury, cleared Fhimah but found Megrahi guilty of mass murder.
For the past three years Police Scotland has also been running an Operation Sandwood investigation into claims that Crown officials, police officers and expert witnesses acted illegally to secure Megrahi’s conviction.
Yesterday the SCCRC said: ‘We do not currently have an application in this case.’ The Crown Office said that as papers had not yet been lodged it had nothing to say.
‘We believe as a family my father is innocent. The justice system has nowhere to hide’

Hi,

on having heard of Tam Dalyell’s death, at the age of 84, on my birthday, he having died the day before on the 25-Jan-2017 I felt compelled to mark it on my Twitter feed, as he had had a considerable influence on the politics of our great nation, during his many years as an MP – not least of which was on the issue of the West Lothian Question, making the issue his own as the MP for the seat, a subject with which I agreed.

He also spoke forcefully in opposition to Scottish indipendence, with which I also agreed, however I could not for a moment agree with his contrarian views on either UK or Scottish independence from the ill considered EU nor his strident views regarding the sinking of The Belgrano for fairly obvious reasons.

My brief Tweet was as follows:

Twitter Updates

  • #IN MEMORIAM “Tam Dalyell” Died 26-Jan-2017 aged 84 after 43yrs as an MP having slid from privilege & money at #Eton to #Labour contrarian! 7 hours ago

I also noted a Tweet from a friend – Marcus Stead which handled the matter well in its brevity:

I had differences with Sir Tam Dalyell, but his West Lothian question is a powerful legacy,& he was a fiercely independent, backbench MP. RIP

The death of Tam Dalyell and the need for a good public life

There has been a coarsening of the culture of public life on both sides of the Atlantic since Dalyell’s time

BY Iain Martin   27 January 2017

The concept of a brief telephone conversation with Tam Dalyell did not exist. In the mid-1990s a young Sunday Times Scotland reporter looking for a quote and ringing “the Binns”, the ancient Dalyell family seat in West Lothian, had better have set aside a good half an hour, at least. Other anti-devolutionists in Scottish Labour (I’m looking at you, once shadow minister and long-time journalistic colossus Brian Wilson) had the delivery of the pithy off the record quote about the daftness of devolution down to a fine art. Tam even on the record needed to take a long run up, or more like a meandering stroll, towards the point. He always got there in the end, delivering many a punchy phrase, particularly in describing Scottish devolution as a motorway to independence with no exits.

It was fashionable in pro-devolution Labour circles twenty years ago to laugh at him for his anti-devo view, deep voice and courtly manners. Well, they’re not laughing now, with the SNP ten years into government at Holyrood and First Minister Nicola Sturgeon pondering a second punt at breaking up the UK.

Tam Dalyell was a nuisance for his party, but highly unusually for a leading member of the parliamentary awkward squad he carried out his guerrilla activities for the most part courteously.

When the young Edinburgh-lawyer-turned-MP John Smith was Labour’s Home Rule minister in the late 1970s, and Tam was doing his best to frustrate his efforts, Dalyell’s drawn out approach in telephone calls so infuriated Smith that during one late night call too many, about a problem with the parliamentary Bill to create an Assembly in Edinburgh, Smith snapped.

Attempting to change the subject and take an advantage, Smith asked suddenly why Dalyell had failed the test to become an officer during his National Service. He had been to Eton and was a Baronet. The army usually made allowances for these matters, surely? Smith said he had always wondered what had gone wrong. Tam had served only as a private. Why? There was a long pause. “John, it was something to do with me losing a tank on Salisbury Plain.”

Donald Dewar told me that. It certainly sounds true, although all three – Dewar, Smith and now Dalyell – are sadly no longer with us. This week another connection with the tumultuous politics of the 1970s and 1980s was severed.

To most people under 40 the announcement that Tam Dalyell has died, aged 84 after a short illness, is unlikely to register. He stepped down from the House of Commons more than a decade ago, in 2005, and the peak of his activities came in those late 1970s battles over devolution running through to clashes with Margaret Thatcher.

For a period he was extremely well-known as the MP who pursued her over the Falklands War and the decision in particular to sink the Belgrano, an Argentinian cruiser, during the conflict. Dalyell kept asking: Why was it sunk? Why had Thatcher authorised such slaughter? Eventually some of his frustrated colleagues at Westminster responded outside the chamber with a bleak and fair assessment: The Belgrano was an Argentinian warship full of Argentinians. That was why it was sunk. Regardless of which direction in which it was sailing, because it could have turned round and headed for the Falklands to kill British sailors.

Dalyell never achieved high office and would have been unsuited to it anyway. His comments about Blair and the “Jewish lobby” at the time of the Iraq War in 2003 were a stain on his reputation and completely beneath him. It suggested fading powers and a loss of perspective. At the election two years later he retired.

On the question of the wisdom or otherwise of mangling the British constitution to deliver an Edinburgh parliament, without treating England fairly, his judgment is vindicated by events since. On Brexit he was fiercely opposed, only a few days ago giving an interview in which he said MPs should vote down Article 50 because departure from the EU will, he claimed, bring about Scottish independence. We’ll see.

My last of many encounters was at the Binns and Tam, missing the Commons, was typically keen to talk about the latest happenings in politics. The celebrated novelist Alexander McCall Smith had been invited to launch one of his books by the Dalyells with a smart dinner and speeches in the library of their home outside Edinburgh.

I arrived early on a flight from London to Edinburgh and Tam grabbed me. We retreated to a corner to talk about Gordon Brown and the transition from the Blair era, I recall. Dalyell was always contemptuous of Blair, but concerned about whether Brown would be able to step up. I think, though cannot recall fully, that he was a supporter of an early Scottish independence referendum, on the back of having a Scottish PM. That would have been a sensible move, before the SNP had too much time to organise. By that point prominent Labour devolutionists were also of that view. Brown as Prime Minister from 2007 prevaricated and then missed the moment. Shame.

I do not propose to paint the flawed parliamentarians of the past such as Tam Dalyell as somehow infinitely superior, as though there has been nothing but a decline in quality since. Those debates in which Tam first posed the West Lothian question (it was Enoch Powell who named it, not Dalyell) are certainly of an extremely high standard to read now. There was a stateliness to the best of the exchanges and a willingness by some MPs to co-operate across the chamber and respect views that they did not necessarily share.

But the Commons of old does not read or sound to me like an expression of the Athenian ideal. In the 1960s there was plenty of corruption and hypocrisy. In the 1970s it was almost exclusively male and awash with alcohol, making it rich in silly anecdotes. My friend Alan Cochrane, then a young parliamentary correspondent, recalls Gerry Fitt standing at the edge of the Commons terrace holding up his gin and tonic, pointing it out to the passing tourists on pleasure boats and shouting “it’s all free!”

Parliament has changed, they say, with MPs spending more time in their offices or meeting delegations. Still, there are plenty of good Commons performers, and if the Lords has become too large there is quality of intellect scattered amid the throng.

Reflecting on the passing into history of Dalyell and his generation, it is undeniable that there has been a coarsening of the culture of public life on both sides of the Atlantic, however. In Britain it is in part down to serial scandals – in parliament, the police, the military and the press – and the speed at  which the modern news cycle spins, chasing outrage and novelty.

Social media then amplifies the aggression, and in the Scottish referendum of 2014, the EU referendum and then the US election of 2016, the keyboard warriors – journalists, activists who can now respond direct and outright bampots (Scottish term) – fought endless duels which continue. Getting caught in the middle of one of these rows could be energising, although in the end the effect is akin to being at an overcrowded bar with multiple conversations going on and loud music playing while a fight breaks out near the toilets.

Social media also suits journalist snark or sarcasm. Irony doesn’t work as it is often misread. The tone is generally – there are exceptions – inhospitable and a tad grumpy. No wonder so many journalists use Twitter.

I am probably the last person who can complain about this coarsening. I’ve been too rude in print and online – to my regret – about the shortcomings of several figures, Nick Clegg and Jeremy Corbyn, to make the case that there should be a more civil discourse. It will never catch on. Anyway, there’s always been a role for journalists, or commentators more particularly, being punchy and sometimes personal about the powerful, since the dawn of “Grub Street” and Fleet Street. But how to stop it spilling over into ad hominem attacks that get no-one anywhere when you conclude that the man in the White House proves daily by his actions that he is utterly unfit? Pass.

There I am like many journalists wrestling in the Age of Trump and rampant populism with a problem to which I confess I simply do not know the answer.

It is easy to say that when it comes to Trump one should stick to the basic facts. But that is difficult, when even the new President himself is incapable of sticking to the basic facts. His outrages, at the CIA wall, on the debunked notion of widespread voter fraud, mean that it is all but impossible, unless you are writing a straight news report, to avoid poking fun or calling it out. Trumpism and ultra-liberalism are two sides of the same coin, incidentally, both equally intolerant and short-sighted, although that is for another time. What is clear is that Trump’s 2016 campaign put a particularly strong dose of poison in the bloodstream.

Even though the EU result was, for Brexiteers like me, worth celebrating, a poisoning also occurred in Britain during the referendum campaign last year. Two large groups in combat both fundamentally mistrusted each other’s motives and at moments of extreme stress even questioned the patriotism and sanity of their opponents.

Anger plus anger, minus civility, multiplied by social media, is no good in the end. There must be room for the concepts of public good, for honest disagreement and at least some respect for the idea of a good public life in service of country. There is no formula to ensure it, but a sensible place to start is strong, independent institutions filled with dedicated and sometimes wrongheaded people determined to defend them in a civilised manner. Tam Dalyell was such a man.

Here’s everything you need to know about the President-elect’s brood following his inauguration as US President:

Trump’s oldest child, 38-year-old Donald Jr, is a real estate developer and Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization.

Like his father, he studied economics at the University of Pennsylvania – telling New York Magazine he had a reputation for drinking too much during his college years, which led to him giving up alcohol.

As well as working for his father’s organisation, he also appeared on numerous episodes of his father’s TV show, The Apprentice.

Donald Jr married model Vanessa Hayden in 2005, and like Donald Sr is now a father of five children – Kai, Chloe, Donald III, Tristan and Spencer.

Ivanka Trump

35-year-old Ivanka is a businesswoman and former fashion model.

Trump’s first child with his first wife Ivana, Ivanka also graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2004 with a degree in economics.

She has dabbled in modelling – walking fashion runways for big names such as Versace – but is currently an Executive Vice President of Development and Acquisitions at the Trump Organization.

Ivanka also has her own jewellery and fashion lines – and Trump has often referred to his eldest daughter as his ‘favourite’, with some even suggesting she may have a First Lady-esque influence over her father in the White House.

The mother-of-three is married to Jared Kushner, a real estate developer – and she converted to Judaism, her husband’s religion.

The pair are parents to 5-year-old Arabella, 3-year-old Joseph and 8-month-old

Eric Trump

Trump’s third and youngest child with first wife Ivana, 32-year-old Eric joined the Trump organisation in 2006.

After graduating from Georgetown University in Washington, DC, Eric assumed responsibility for expanding his father’s company’s real estate portfolio.

He also established the Eric Trump Foundation in 2006 – an organisation whose purpose is to raise money for terminally ill children.

However, the foundation has been dogged by controversy after tax records showed significant amounts of funds raised went towards the costs of hosting fundraising events at Trump Organization golf venues.

Eric Trump has also been criticised alongside his older brother by animal rights activists for trophy hunting.

He also came under fire after illegally tweeting a picture of his ballot paper, showing his vote for his father.

Eric married Lara Yunaska, a television producer, in 2014.

Tiffany Trump

23-year-old Tiffany is Trump’s only child with his second wife, Marla Maples. She is named after the jewellery retailer Tiffany & Company, and was raised by her mother in Los Angeles from the age of 5 – reportedly spending only two weeks a year with her famous father’s side of the family.

After trying her hand at pop-stardom – releasing a single aged 17 – Tiffany followed in family tradition and enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania, studying sociology and law.

She’s also interned at Vogue magazine, and like sister Ivanka dipped into modelling – posing for Andrew Warren during New York Fashion Week this year.

Tiffany is something of a social media personality, regularly uploading snaps to Instagram – a habit that has seen some New York newspapers dub her a member of the so-called ‘Snap Pack’, a similar concept to the Rich Kids of Instagram.

Trump’s youngest child, 10-year-old Barron, is his only child with current wife and soon-to-be First Lady Melania Trump. Born in 2006 – a year after his parents’ 2005 nuptials – he is closer in age to his eight nieces and nephews than to his siblings.

Speaking to Parenting.com, Melania said of her son: “He is a very strong-minded, very special, smart boy. He is independent and opinionated and knows exactly what he wants. Sometimes I call him little Donald. He is a mixture of us in looks, but his personality is why I call him ‘Little Donald’.”

The youngest Trump became a viral sensation after appearing to begin falling asleep during his father’s victory speech, which took place in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Secretary of State: Rex Tillerson

Rex Tillerson (l) with Vladimir Putin

Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson has no experience in government, having worked for the oil giant since 1975.

He’s the 29th highest paid CEO in the US, and earned $24.3 million this year – which was a 15% pay cut on 2015.

Secretary of State is the US equivalent of Foreign Secretary – a senior cabinet position with responsibility for overseas and diplomatic relations.

But his nomination will intensify concern over the Trump administration’s cosy relationship with Russia – particularly after the CIA’s assertion that Russian hackers tried to manipulate the election result – not to mention the unverified Watersportsgate dossier.

Tillerson was awarded an Order of Friendship medal by Putin himself, after he brokered a major deal giving Exxon access to Russia’s Arctic oil reserves.

Secretary of Defence: James “Mad Dog” Mattis

Retired U.S. Marine Corps General James Mattis

A retired US Marine Corps general, James Mattis was appointed to serve as Commander of US Central Command in 2013 by Barack Obama.

He’s disliked by the right for backing a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine.

He once said “have a plan to kill everyone you meet” and singles out Iran as world’s threat ahead of ISIS but takes a strong line on Vladimir Putin.

Secretary of Homeland Security: John F Kelly

General John F. Kelly

John F Kelly is another retired Marine general who served under the Obama administration.

He was the longest serving Marine general in US history – and is notable among Trump’s picks because he refused to endorse either presidential candidate.

He’s been a defender of US troops using ‘force feeding’ tactics in Guantanamo Bay, saying it’s a “necessary practice” to keep inmates healthy.

The Intercept reported last week that he’d failed to disclose links to the Spectrum Group, a defence contractor lobbying firm – as well as two other board memberships at other contractors – on his ethics form.

CIA director: Mike Pompeo

Representative Mike Pompeo

Mike Pompeo is a Republican congressman from Kansas, and a former Army Captain.

He was swept into congress along with the tea party movement in the 2011 mid-term elections.

He was an outspoken critic of Hillary Clinton ’s handling of the attack on the US embassy in Benghazi, Libya in 2012 and thinks Edward Snowden should be executed for leaking government secrets to the press.

He’s spoken out in favour of the CIA’s use of torture, and has barely spoken about cybersecurity at all in his career, leading some to question his eligibility to lead America’s response to cyberattacks from Russia and elsewhere.

Treasury Secretary: Steven Mnuchin

Steven Mnuchin

Ex Goldman Sachs exec Steve Mnuchin profited greatly from the 2008 housing bust.

He was an early supporter of Trump and was described by the President elect as a “world class financier, banker and businessman.”

He also co-produced a number of Hollywood movies, including Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Attorney General: Jeff Sessions

Jeff Sessions

Jeff Sessions is the junior United States Senator for Alabama.

He’s previously served as Attorney General of Alabama, before being elected to the senate in 1994. He supported most of George W Bush’s legislative priorities, including tax cuts, the Iraq War and proposed bans on same-sex marriage.

He opposed Obama’s 2009 stimulus bill, Obamacare and the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.

His confirmation hearings have been dogged by protests over his alleged sympathies for the Ku Klux Klan – which he denies.

Jeff Sessions said allegations that he harboured sympathies towards the violent white supremacist organisation are false.

Sessions was denied confirmation to a federal judgeship in 1986 after allegations emerged that he made racist remarks, including testimony that he called an African-American prosecutor “boy,” an allegation he denied.

He once referred to the American Civil Liberties Union and National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People as “unamerican” because they “forced civil rights down the throats of people.

US trade representative: Robert Lighthizer

Robert Lighthizer was a deputy US trade representative during the Reagan administration in the 1980s.

He is a harsh critic of China’s trade practices, and has spent the last 30 years as a lawyer representing US steelmakers in anti-dumping and anti-subsidy cases.

Secretary of Labor: Andrew Puzder

Incoming Trump administration cabinet secretary nominees, including Labor Secretary nominee Andy Puzder (L-R), Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations Joe Hagin and Secretary of State nominee Rex Tillerson

Andy Puzder is the CEO of the CKE Restaurants, which owns fast-food chains Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr.

He served as an advisor to Romney’s 2012 campaign and raised money for Trump ahead of last year’s election.

In 2009, he defended a string of Carl’s Jr ads which objectified women by saying: “We believe in putting hot models in our commercials because ugly ones don’t sell burgers.”

CNN reported on Tuesday that Puzder is having “second thoughts” about his nomination because he’s “not into the pounding he is taking – and the paperwork.”

Secretary of Health and Human Services: Tom Price

Rep. Tom Price

Tom Price has been a Georgia congressman since 2005.

In that time he’s been a critic of Obamacare and voted to terminate a program that subsidises contraception for low-income women.

He also voted against a law barring employers from firing women for using contraception.

Most recently he’s faced calls for an investigation into his investments in healthcare stocks while he was an influential voice on healthcare policy.

Secretary of Energy: Rick Perry

President-Elect Donald J. Trump is seen inside the lobby
Rick Perry (Photo: REUTERS)

Rick Perry was governor of Texas for 15 years until 2015.

He ran unsuccessfully for the Republican nomination in both the 2012 and 2016 elections.

During a 2011 primary debate he called for the Department of Energy to be abolished, something he now says he regrets.

He reportedly misunderstood the job of Energy secretary, assuming he was taking on the role as a global ambassador for the US oil and gas industry.

According to the New York Times: “In the days after, Mr. Perry… discovered that he would be no such thing — that in fact, if confirmed by the Senate, he would become the steward of a vast national security complex he knew almost nothing about, caring for the most fearsome weapons on the planet, the United States’ nuclear arsenal.”

Secretary of Housing and Urban Development: Ben Carson

Ben Carson is a former neurosurgeon who ran unsuccessfully to be the Republican nominee in last year’s presidential election.

He has little experience in the field of housing and urban development.

Ben Carson believes the pyramids were built not by the Pharaohs of Egypt as tombs, but by Joseph (of the Bible’s book of Genesis) as silos in which to store gain.

Administrator of Environmental Protection Agency: Scott Pruitt

Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt

Scott Pruit is a climate change sceptic who has been accused of being a “puppet” of the fossil fuel industry.

As Attorney General of Oklahoma, he campaigned against the Clean Power Act, which was aimed at combating climate change.

In his confirmation hearing, he claimed human activity only “impacted” rather than “caused” climate change.

He has sued the organisation he is about to lead 14 times in the last six years and lost almost every time.

One of the lawsuits is still ongoing.

Secretary of Commerce: Wilbur Ross

Investor Wilbur Ross (Photo: Getty)

Donald Trump’s new trade chief has urged Britain’s rivals to take advantage of the “God-given opportunity” of Brexit to take business away from the UK.

Wilbur Ross, a billionaire businessman, said Britain was facing a “period of confusion” following the vote to leave the EU and that it was “inevitable” there would be “relocations”.

The billionaire businessman will be responsible for negotiating a free trade deal with the UK and his reported comments will raise concerns the incoming US administration will seek to exploit Britain’s isolation following Brexit .

Secretary of Transportation: Elaine Chao

Elaine Chao

Elaine Chao is the first Asian American woman to be appointed to the President’s cabinet.

She’s married to Mitch McConnell, the Republican Majority leader, and served as deputy Secretary of Transportation under George HW Bush, and as Secretary of Labour under George W Bush.

US ambassador to the UN: Nikki Haley

South Carolina governor Nikki Haley

Nikki Haley is the Governor of South Carolina, and at 44 is the youngest current governor of a US state.

She’s the second Indian-American, after Bobby Jindal, to serve as a US governor.

She shot to fame after delivering the official Republican response to Barack Obama’s final State of the Union address in January 2016.

During her confirmation hearings, she accused Russia of committing war crimes in Syria.

She said: “Russia is trying to show their muscle right now. It’s what they do. I don’t think we can trust them. We have to continue to be very strong back, and show them what this new administration is going to be.”

Secretary of Interior: Ryan Zinke

US Congressman Ryan Zinke

Ryan Zinke is a Montana congressman and ex Navy SEAL Commander.

After leaving the Navy, he embarked on a career in property management and business development consulting – and served on the board of oil pipeline company QS Energy.

As Secretary of Interior, Zinke will oversee all 254 million acres of federal lands – and there are concerns he will launch a programme of selling off public land to oil and gas firms.

He told his confirmation hearing: “Some areas need to be set aside, but a lot of it you can hunt and fish, you can drill an oil well. I don’t think they’re in conflict, I think you have to do it right.”

Education: Betsy DeVos

Betsy DeVos

Betsy DeVos is an outspoken fan of “school choice” – which aims to undermine the US public school system by giving federal money to private schools.

During her chaotic confirmation hearing she blamed a “clerical error” for appearing on the board of her mother’s foundation, which donated more than £4 million to Focus on the Family, an anti-gay extremist group designated a ‘hate group’ by the Southern Poverty Law Centre.

She also argued that guns should be allowed in some schools because of the threat from grizzly bears.

Head of Small Business Administration: Linda McMahon

Linda McMahon is the co-founder and former CEO of of World Wrestling Entertainment.

That’s right. WWE. Hulk Hogan, The Rock, The Undertaker, Triple H, Kurt Angle. That one.

She personally owns $84 million in stock in the wrestling entertainment empire.

She donated $6 million to Trump’s campaign in August and September.

The above gif shows her in a wrestling ring, kicking her husband Vince McMahon in the crotch.

Hi,

America has a well tried system as a Republic with a representative democracy not a literal democracy, and as with any system the individuals and their group who have clawed their way to the top of it are unlikely ever to change the system that brought them to power!

Thus America clearly and with an unarguably massive majority , all be it not a popular majority, voted into office as POTUS the inexperienced and hugely divisive 45th. President and it would seem his entire extended family and friends!

As with any Slebeven on who is, as Trump now is, of consequence – there will be times when it will hugely benefit them to have the media onside.

Seeing his and his administration’s undeniable insecurity which has led to them, on day two, picking a fight with the media shows their total lack of experience and ineptitude, as it is clear that not only in his speeches does Trump get totally sidetracked and wander off message, but in his and his administration’s behaviour they seem unable to focus on the important issues and get sidetracked into fights over irrelivancies.

I appreciate it must have been embarrassing for Trump to have been trounced by Hillary Clinton in the popular vote, but clearly the Democrats were fighting the wrong battle and took States that had voted for them in the past foregranted thus loosing swathes of Electoral College votes and the very election they were so expecting to win.

Surely the way in which the Democrats were sidetracked should be a lesson for Trump’s team!

It is clear that Trump and his team have failed to learn the lesson of ‘don’t sweat the small stuff‘.

The manner in which the media has evicerated his claims regarding attendance and numbers has merely given the media clear authority to provide many column inches laying out detailed facts with provenance making his administration look foolish and wrong footing him on day 2!

White House Press Secretary Slams Media

At his first news conference, Sean Spicer, the White House press secretary, accused news outlets of intentionally manipulating photographs “to minimize the enormous support” that President Trump had received at his inauguration.

WASHINGTON — President Trump used his first full day in office on Saturday to unleash a remarkably bitter attack on the news media, falsely accusing journalists of both inventing a rift between him and intelligence agencies and deliberately understating the size of his inauguration crowd.

In a visit to the Central Intelligence Agency intended to showcase his support for the intelligence community, Mr. Trump ignored his own repeated public statements criticizing the intelligence community, a group he compared to Nazis just over a week ago.

He also called journalists “among the most dishonest human beings on earth,” and he said that up to 1.5 million people had attended his inauguration, a claim that photographs disproved.

Later, at the White House, he dispatched Sean Spicer, the press secretary, to the briefing room in the West Wing, where Mr. Spicer scolded reporters and made a series of false statements.

He said news organizations had deliberately misstated the size of the crowd at Mr. Trump’s inauguration on Friday in an attempt to sow divisions at a time when Mr. Trump was trying to unify the country, warning that the new administration would hold them to account.

The statements from the new president and his spokesman came as hundreds of thousands of people protested against Mr. Trump, a crowd that appeared to dwarf the one that gathered the day before when he was sworn in. It was a striking display of invective and grievance at the dawn of a presidency, usually a time when the White House works to set a tone of national unity and to build confidence in a new leader.

Instead, the president and his team appeared embattled and defensive, signaling that the pugnacious style Mr. Trump employed as a candidate will persist now that he has ascended to the nation’s highest office.

Saturday was supposed to be a day for Mr. Trump to mend fences with the intelligence community, with an appearance at the C.I.A.’s headquarters in Langley, Va. While he was lavish in his praise, the president focused in his 15-minute speech on his complaints about news coverage of his criticism of the nation’s spy agencies, and meandered to other topics, including the crowd size at his inauguration, his level of political support, his mental age and his intellectual heft.

Estimates by crowd scientists of attendance at events on Friday and Saturday and how they calculated it.

“I just want to let you know, I am so behind you,” Mr. Trump told more than 300 employees assembled in the lobby for his remarks.

In recent weeks, Mr. Trump has questioned the intelligence agencies’ conclusion that Russia meddled in the United States election on his behalf. After the disclosure of a dossier with unsubstantiated claims about Mr. Trump, he accused the intelligence community of allowing the leak and wrote on Twitter, “Are we living in Nazi Germany?”

On Saturday, he said journalists were responsible for any suggestion that he was not fully supportive of intelligence agencies’ work.

“I have a running war with the media,” Mr. Trump said. “They are among the most dishonest human beings on earth, and they sort of made it sound like I had a feud with the intelligence community.”

“The reason you’re the No. 1 stop is, it is exactly the opposite,” Mr. Trump added. “I love you, I respect you, there’s nobody I respect more.”

Mr. Trump also took issue with news reports about the number of people who attended his inauguration, complaining that the news media used photographs of “an empty field” to make it seem as if his inauguration did not draw many people.

“We caught them in a beauty,” Mr. Trump said of the news media, “and I think they’re going to pay a big price.”

Mr. Spicer said that Mr. Trump had drawn “the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration,” a statement that photographs clearly show to be false. Mr. Spicer said photographs of the inaugural ceremonies were deliberately framed “to minimize the enormous support that had gathered on the National Mall,” although he provided no proof of either assertion.

JUDGE FOR YOURSELF:

Photographs of Barack Obama’s inauguration in 2009 and of Mr. Trump’s plainly showed that the crowd on Friday was significantly smaller, but Mr. Spicer attributed that disparity to new white ground coverings he said had caused empty areas to stand out and to security measures that had blocked people from entering the Mall.

“These attempts to lessen the enthusiasm of the inauguration are shameful and wrong,” Mr. Spicer said. He also admonished a journalist for erroneously reporting on Friday that Mr. Trump had removed a bust of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. from the Oval Office, calling the mistake — which was corrected quickly — “egregious.”

And he incorrectly claimed that ridership on Washington’s subway system was higher than on Inauguration Day in 2013. In reality, there were 782,000 riders that year, compared with 571,000 riders this year, according to figures from the Washington-area transit authority.

Mr. Spicer also said that security measures had been extended farther down the National Mall this year, preventing “hundreds of thousands of people” from viewing the ceremony. But the Secret Service said the measures were largely unchanged this year, and there were few reports of long lines or delays.

Commentary about the size of his inauguration crowd made Mr. Trump increasingly angry on Friday, according to several people familiar with his thinking.

On Saturday, Mr. Trump told his advisers that he wanted to push back hard on “dishonest media” coverage — mostly referring to a Twitter post from a New York Times reporter showing side-by-side frames of Mr. Trump’s crowd and Mr. Obama’s in 2009. But most of Mr. Trump’s advisers urged him to focus on the responsibilities of his office during his first full day as president.

However, in his remarks at the C.I.A., he wandered off topic several times, at various points telling the crowd he felt no older than 39 (he is 70); reassuring anyone who questioned his intelligence by saying, “I’m, like, a smart person”; and musing out loud about how many intelligence workers backed his candidacy.

“Probably everybody in this room voted for me, but I will not ask you to raise your hands if you did,” Mr. Trump said. “We’re all on the same wavelength, folks.”

But most of his remarks were devoted to attacking the news media. And Mr. Spicer picked up the theme later in the day in the White House briefing room. But his appearance, according to the people familiar with Mr. Trump’s thinking, went too far, in the president’s opinion.

Mr. Trump’s appearance at the C.I.A. touched off a fierce reaction from some current and former intelligence officials.

Nick Shapiro, who served as chief of staff to John O. Brennan, who resigned Friday as the C.I.A. director, said Mr. Brennan “is deeply saddened and angered at Donald Trump’s despicable display of self-aggrandizement in front of C.I.A.’s Memorial Wall of Agency heroes.

“Brennan says that Trump should be ashamed of himself,” Mr. Shapiro added.

“I was heartened that the president gave a speech at C.I.A.,” said Michael V. Hayden, a former director of the C.I.A. and the National Security Agency. “It would have been even better if more of it had been about C.I.A.”

Representative Adam B. Schiff of California, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said that he had had high hopes for Mr. Trump’s visit as a step to begin healing the relationship between the president and the intelligence community, but that Mr. Trump’s meandering speech had dashed them.

“While standing in front of the stars representing C.I.A. personnel who lost their lives in the service of their country — hallowed ground — Trump gave little more than a perfunctory acknowledgment of their service and sacrifice,” Mr. Schiff said. “He will need to do more than use the agency memorial as a backdrop if he wants to earn the respect of the men and women who provide the best intelligence in the world.”

Mr. Trump said nothing during the visit about how he had mocked the C.I.A. and other intelligence agencies as “the same people that said Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction.” He did not mention his apparent willingness to believe Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, who is widely detested at the C.I.A., over his own intelligence agencies.

He also did not say whether he would start receiving the daily intelligence briefs that are prepared for the president. The agency sees the president as its main audience, and his dismissal of the need for daily briefings from the intelligence community has raised concerns about morale among people who believe their work will not be respected at the White House.

Since the election, hopes at the C.I.A. that the new administration would bring an infusion of energy and ideas have given way to trepidation about what Mr. Trump and his loyalists have planned. But the nomination of Mike Pompeo, a former Army infantry officer who is well versed in issues facing the intelligence community, to lead the C.I.A. has been received positively at the agency.

“He has left the strong impression that he doesn’t trust the intelligence community and that he doesn’t have tremendous regard for their work,” Mark M. Lowenthal, a retired C.I.A. analyst, said of Mr. Trump. “The obvious thing to do is to counter that by saying, ‘I value you. I look forward to working with you.’”

“He called them Nazis,” Mr. Lowenthal added, referring to Mr. Trump’s characterization of the intelligence community. Mr. Lowenthal said Saturday’s visit should have been “a stroking expedition.”

The women’s march in Washington was roughly three times the size of the audience at President Trump’s inauguration, crowd counting experts said Saturday.

Marcel Altenburg and Keith Still, crowd scientists at Manchester Metropolitan University in Britain, analyzed photographs and video taken of the National Mall and vicinity and estimated that there were about 160,000 people in those areas in the hour leading up to Mr. Trump’s speech Friday.

They estimated that at least 470,000 people were at the women’s march in Washington in the areas on and near the mall at about 2 p.m. Saturday.

The two images below show the crowds when they were at their peak density at the two events.

The estimates are not comprehensive counts and were necessarily limited by the availability of photographs and video that covered the areas of interest. But their estimate was in line with one given by a city official who said that march participation likely surpassed half a million, according to The Associated Press.

The scientists had better images for the analysis of Mr. Trump’s inauguration crowd, which was concentrated on the mall. But the women’s march was more sprawling and fluid, so the actual number of people at the women’s march could be larger.

It is likely that the timing and location of the march — on a weekend, in a Democratic city in a Democratic region — helped drive the significant turnout.

In addition to wide-angle images, the scientists made use of news images that provided closer views of the crowds, which allowed them to calculate the density of specific areas more precisely.

For the women’s march, they chose a period in time when the crowd was moving the least, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. Using aerial footage and photographs from various angles, the analysts isolated areas with an average density of 2.5 people per square meter, the same method used at Mr. Trump’s inauguration the day before.

The maps below show the areas that they determined to be high crowd density at each event.

But Mr. Trump was clearly upset with what he felt were undercounts of his own event the day before. In a visit to the Central Intelligence Agency on Saturday, Mr. Trump falsely accused the media of lying about the size of the crowds at his inauguration, saying that when he looked out from his podium, “it looked like a million, a million and a half people,” and that the area “all the way back to the Washington Monument was packed.”

Later in the day, Sean Spicer, the White House press secretary, claimed that Friday’s event was “the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration,” even though “no one had numbers” to confirm it because the Park Service does not issue crowd estimates.

The Park Service said in 2009 that it “firmly” believed that Barack Obama had drawn the largest crowd ever to the National Mall. The location could have also been a contributing factor for the crowds that year; about half of Washington’s population is black, and more than 92 percent of the city voted Democratic.

Mr. Spicer said that the area between the platform where Mr. Trump was sworn in and the Washington Monument could hold 720,000 people, and claimed that “all of this space was full when the president took the oath of office.”

The images below, captured 45 minutes before the respective oaths of office, show areas that were crowded with people at Mr. Obama’s inauguration that were clearly empty during Mr. Trump’s.

“There is a scientific explanation why the crowd size must have appeared to Trump in 2017 similar or even larger than to Obama in 2009,” said Mr. Altenburg, one of the crowd scientists.

The scientists said Mr. Trump would only have seen the tightly packed front third of the crowd, but not the back two-thirds, from his position at the podium. To make their estimates, they monitored seven live feeds all day, including those from perspectives that someone at the podium would not have been able to perceive.

Hi,

The Bush Sisters Wrote the Obama Girls A Letter

Barbara Bush is the CEO and co-founder of Global Health Corps

Jenna Bush Hager is a correspondent for the TODAY Show

Malia and Sasha, eight years ago on a cold November day, we greeted you on the steps of the White House. We saw both the light and wariness in your eyes as you gazed at your new home. We left our jobs in Baltimore and New York early and traveled to Washington to show you around. To show you the Lincoln Bedroom, and the bedrooms that were once ours, to introduce you to all the people—the florists, the grounds-keepers and the butlers—who dedicate themselves to making this historic house a home. The four of us wandered the majestic halls of the house you had no choice but to move in to. When you slid down the banister of the solarium, just as we had done as 8-year-olds and again as 20-year-olds chasing our youth, your joy and laughter were contagious. The Bush Girls’ Letter To Malia & Sasha Obama As Children Of The White House

In eight years, you have done so much. Seen so much. You stood at the gates of the Robben Island cell where South Africa’s Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for decades, your arms around your father. You traveled to Liberia and Morocco with your mom to talk with girls about the importance of education—girls who saw themselves in you, saw themselves in your parents, saw who they could become if they continued to study and learn. You attended state dinners, hiked in national parks, met international leaders and managed to laugh at your dad’s jokes during the annual Thanksgiving turkey pardon, all while being kids, attending school and making friends. We have watched you grow from girls to impressive young women with grace and ease.

And through it all you had each other. Just like we did.

Now you are about to join another rarified club, one of former First Children—a position you didn’t seek and one with no guidelines. But you have so much to look forward to. You will be writing the story of your lives, beyond the shadow of your famous parents, yet you will always carry with you the experiences of the past eight years.

Read past White House photographers on their favorite moments with U.S. presidents

Never forget the wonderful people who work at the White House. Our greeter as 7-year-olds at our grandfather’s Inauguration was Nancy, the White House florist, who ushered us in from the cold. She helped us make colorful bouquets of winter flowers for our grandparents’ bedside. Twenty years later, Nancy did the flowers for Jenna’s wedding. Cherish your own Nancy. We stay in touch with our Secret Service. They were part of growing up for us: there for first dates, first days and even an engagement and a honeymoon. We know it wasn’t always easy—the two of you and the two of us were teenagers trailed by men in backpacks—but they put their lives on hold for us.

Enjoy college. As most of the world knows, we did. And you won’t have the weight of the world on your young shoulders anymore. Explore your passions. Learn who you are. Make mistakes—you are allowed to. Continue to surround yourself with loyal friends who know you, adore you and will fiercely protect you. Those who judge you don’t love you, and their voices shouldn’t hold weight. Rather, it’s your own hearts that matter.

Take all that you have seen, the people you have met, the lessons you have learned, and let that help guide you in making positive change. We have no doubt you will. Traveling with our parents taught us more than any class could. It opened our eyes to new people as well as new cultures and ideas. We met factory workers in Michigan, teachers in California, doctors healing people on the Burmese border, kids who lined the dusty streets of Kampala to see the American President, and kids with HIV waiting to get the antiretroviral drugs that would save their lives. One tiny girl wearing her finest lavender dress looked young, which she was not. She was little because she was sick. Her mom admitted that she might not live to see these drugs work, but her brothers and sisters would. After meeting this girl, Barbara went back to school and changed her major, and her life’s path.

You have lived through the unbelievable pressure of the White House. You have listened to harsh criticism of your parents by people who had never even met them. You stood by as your precious parents were reduced to headlines. Your parents, who put you first and who not only showed you but gave you the world. As always, they will be rooting for you as you begin your next chapter. And so will we.

Barbara Bush is a co-founder and the CEO of Global Health Corps. Jenna Bush Hager is a correspondent for the Today show.

Hi,

Hungary Cracks-Down on all Soros Funded NGOs

soros-george-01-viktor-orban-of-hungaryGeorge Soros and Viktor Orban: ( Image from: The Krasnals )

21st Century Wire says…

Extraordinary information has come to light that perhaps, goes some way to explaining the vicious EU and corporate media backlash against Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, for his “nationalist” policies regarding the influx of refugees from various nations that have been targeted by the predatory interventionist alliance of the US, EU, UK, Turkey, Gulf States, Israel, Canada, Australia, Jordan and other smaller players.

“Hungary does not need a single migrant for the economy to work, or the population to sustain itself, or for the country to have a future,” he told a joint press conference in Budapest with Austrian chancellor Christian Kern.

“This is why there is no need for a common European migration policy: whoever needs migrants can take them, but don’t force them on us, we don’t need them,” Orban said.

The populist leader added that “every single migrant poses a public security and terror risk”.

“For us migration is not a solution but a problem … not medicine but a poison, we don’t need it and won’t swallow it,” he said. ~ The Guardian

Orban is also a keen Donald Trump supporter:

Mr. Orban, who has ordered border fences built to stop migrants, said that the ideas of the “upstanding American presidential candidate” about the need for the best intelligence services and his opposition to “democracy export” were also applicable in Europe.

Mr. Orban, whose speech was broadcast on Hungarian state media, blamed the West for what he saw as failed interventions in countries such as Egypt and Libya. ~ New York Times

Then, according to a report in Bloomberg today, Orban has gone one step further and ordered a crack-down on all NGOs linked to billionaire George Soros, convicted criminal hedge-fund manager & vociferous supporter of the EU opening its borders to refugees. Soros is also the anti-Syria campaign impresario, funding and supporting a vast array of anti Syria NGOs operating in lock-step with Washington’s “regime change” objectives in Syria.

Report from Bloomberg:

Hungary plans to crack down on non-governmental organizations linked to billionaire George Soros now that Donald Trump will occupy the White House, according to the deputy head of Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s party.

The European Union member will use “all the tools at its disposal” to “sweep out” NGOs funded by the Hungarian-born financier, which “serve global capitalists and back political correctness over national governments,” Szilard Nemeth, a vice president of the ruling Fidesz party, told reporters on Tuesday. No one answered the phone at the Open Society Institute in Budapest when Bloomberg News called outside business hours.

“I feel that there is an opportunity for this, internationally,” because of Trump’s election, state news service MTI reported Nemeth as saying. Lawmakers will start debating a bill to let authorities audit NGO executives, according to parliament’s legislative agenda.

Orban, the first European leader to publicly back Trump’s campaign, has ignored criticism from the European Commission and U.S. President Barack Obama’s administration for building a self-described “illiberal state” modeled on authoritarian regimes including Russia, China and Turkey. In 2014, Orban personally ordered the state audit agency to probe foundations financed by Norway and said that civil society groups financed from abroad were covers for “paid political activists.”

Orban and his administration have frequently singled out NGOs supported by Soros, a U.S. Democratic Party supporter with a wide network of organizations that promote democracy in formerly communist eastern Europe.

‘Power Structure’

Trump also accused the 86-year-old billionaire of being part of “a global power structure that is responsible for the economic decisions that have robbed our working class, stripped our country of its wealth and put that money into the pockets of a handful of large corporations and political entities.”

In a pre-election commercial, he showed images of Soros along with Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen, and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. CEO Lloyd Blankfein, all of whom are Jewish. The Anti-Defamation League criticized the ad for touching on “subjects that anti-Semites have used for ages.”

So, for Hungary, its “bye, bye Soros”.

Hi,

Germany sued for damages
of ‘forgotten genocide’ in Namibia

https://i1.wp.com/i.imgur.com/tfpJBYj.png

Reuters in New York
Thursday 5 January 2017 17.07 EST Last modified on Thursday 5 January 2017 17.19 EST

Germany has been sued for damages in the United States by descendants of the Herero and Nama people of Namibia, for what they called a campaign of genocide by German colonial troops in the early 1900s that led to more than 100,000 deaths.

According to a complaint filed on Thursday with the US district court in Manhattan, Germany has excluded the plaintiffs from talks with Namibia regarding what occurred, and has publicly said any settlement will not include reparations to victims, even if compensation is awarded to Namibia itself.

“There is no assurance that any of the proposed foreign aid by Germany will actually reach or assist the minority indigenous communities that were directly harmed,” the plaintiffs’ lawyer Ken McCallion said in an email. “There can be no negotiations or settlement about them that is made without them.“

The proposed class-action lawsuit seeks unspecified sums for thousands of descendants of the victims, for the “incalculable damages” that were caused.

US representatives of the German government did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Germany moves to atone for ‘forgotten genocide’ in Namibia

The slaughter took place from roughly 1904 to 1908, when Namibia was a German colony known as South-West Africa, after the Herero and Nama groups rebelled against German rule.

According to many published reports, victims were also subjected to harsh conditions in concentration camps, and some had their skulls sent to Germany for scientific experiments.

Some historians view what occurred as the 20th century’s first genocide, and a 1985 United Nations report said the “massacre” of Hereros qualified as a genocide.

Germany has paid victims of the Holocaust, which occurred during the second world war.

The plaintiffs on Thursday sued under the Alien Tort Statute, a 1789 US law often invoked in human rights cases.

The US supreme court narrowed the law’s reach in a 2013 decision, Kiobel v Royal Dutch Petroleum Co, saying it was presumed not to cover foreign conduct unless the claims sufficiently “touch and concern” the US.

McCallion said Kiobel and later rulings “leave the door open” for US courts to assert jurisdiction in genocide cases.

The plaintiffs, including some from New York, also brought federal common law and New York state law claims.

Hi,

here is a well informed Guest Posting
By: Gerald Warner

Gerald Warner posts into an area not often covered by the Mainstream Stream Media (MSM), here he touches on a belief that I have had for many years and that is that the more Government. the legislature, the judiciary and the wealthy desperately seek to hang onto and manipulate power for their own ends the more they alienate the electorate be that the informed and law abiding so called middle class or, as defined as the self proclaimed elite, the lower orders.

This is a dangerous situation to court as increasingly the mass of people feel disenfranchised with an increasingly radical media seeking to hang onto their status WITH this increasingly radical self proclaimed elite enshrining themselves and enobling their ranks within a bubble, largely and myopically in what is known as the Westminster Bubble, which of course has outreaches amongst the increasingly isolated and vulnerable JLU (Just Like Us) cornurbation dwellers!

This is a very dangerous and unstable position for any society, a situation which for the time being is seemingly controlled – but the failure of its policies can be seen in the burgeoning percentage of the population they have to control by commanding a compliant police force, itself steadily losing the respect, confidence and co-operation of the growing mass of people disenfranchised and all too often cheated by the system.

To have the bubble dwellers endlessly praising low interest rates, is to strip the rapidly growing older and retired population, who worked hard and were the backbone of society of their income from savings, ensuring they join with the increasingly disenfranchised millions!

I appreciate that the Government has, largely due to the 1908 pensions act, the 13 unlucky years of profligate and irresponsible asset stripping quasi Socialist rule under Blair & Brown, with their PPF sell off and stripping of the NHS and buying of votes, with unsustainable benefits policies; policies that had to be funded by throwing open our borders, to attract youthfull immigrant labour, with a total disregard for the fact that in time they would get older and put even more strain on our public services.

This has lead to idiotic policies’ such as quantitive easing (a EUphemism for devaluation, particularly of the savings and investments of the increasingly alienated masses!). The cover-up of the government sanctioned unbridled greed and gambling of the banking sector; a sector on which the Bubble Dwellers, with their hedge fund scams and unprincipled bonuses and over blown incomes, were increasingly dependent & had to steal money from the allienated masses to fund.

We are I believe, with our ballooning prison population and disenfranchised and empoverished masses, dangerously on the edge of major civil unrest – a civil unrest which once started will become increasingly impossible to control is this why a few years ago the so called Socialist Government purchased around 30,000 Heckler & Koch machine firearms and just under 20,000 Smith & Weston pump action shotguns for the police, were they aware of the dangers of the policy of those inside the bubble, the self styled elite and the growing discontent of the masses they were forced to kontrol.

Be assured, it is not just Britain where this is happening, the rise of the red necks and blue collar workers in America and the election of Trump as POTUSe, the rise in the buffer zone of ‘Slebs; be they fahionable pundits like Farage, Le Pen & the like or the swathes of people being famous for being famous and those in entertainment, be that sport or fashion all being tollerated and even encouraged by those in the bubble as a buffer zone for the self styled elite.

Of course when the masses try to cry out ‘The Emperor Has No Clothes’, it will be the buffer zone Slebs who will be thrown to the crowds for destruction as a sop for the self styled bubble dwellers to try to regain control!

There will be a brief phoney peace whilst the inept self styled elite in their bubble desperately borrow ever more & devalue at an ever increasing speed, to try to buy their way out of the chaos they have created with ever more profligate benefits and ever less sustainable wages – it will not work in the long term because, as ever with any bubble, it will burst … Then what!

I do not for a second presume to put words in the mouth of Gerald Warner but it looks clear to me that he shares some of the fears for the future which I foresee!

I would contend that one means by which the bubble fantasists can regain control of the mess they have created is to enact BreXit as rapidly and radically as possible, regaining control of as many of the levers of power as possible and rapidly decentralising the control of those levers as close as possible to the people, hastily kill of their vanity projects like HS2, work to restore the NHS as a National HEALTH Service not as a National Lifestyle Service as it has become as a result of Aneurin Bevan’s catastrophic Socialist (neo Communist, remember his wife!) tampering with The Beveridge Report & dismantle the bubble by increasingly bringing the masses into the position of control to which they are entitled.

Inchoate as these points are, as an associate pointed out, I have not dealt with the trail either far enough back or widely enough – leaving out the likes of Goldsmith and the establishment of Referendums as a part of British and EU Governance. I leave it to another occasion, and to others, to add to the background that is BreXit and to whom we owe thanks for this move towards liberty, too late and too poorly handled by the bubble dwellers so far! Though it is our only hope of salvation and salvation of the peoples of EUrope if they follow suit!

A step in the right direction would be to rapidly work towards implementation of The Harrogate Agenda once we have implimented BreXit via a clear understanding of FleXcit & The BreXit Monographs – the situation is not unrecoverable, but I fear the incompetence and greed of the self style elite in their bubble may make it so – at that stage little will be available to save us!

Consider Gerald Warner’s thoughts:

It was the establishment on trial, and the verdict is guilty

The British public is now as alienated from the judiciary as from the legislature

BY Gerald Warner / 9 December 2016

It was the courts and Parliament that were on trial this week, at the bar of public opinion, not some recondite issues relating to that fabled beast, the British Constitution. The watching public has returned a guilty verdict.

What, in essence, happened? A rich woman used her private wealth to mobilize three High Court judges to intrude themselves upon an international treaty negotiation being conducted by Her Majesty’s Government under the customary Royal Prerogative, mandated by 17.4 million British electors. It seemed fitting to the opponents of Brexit that four individuals should enjoy the right to frustrate the clearly expressed wishes of those 17.4 million voters.

Then the Government appealed, bringing 11 Supreme Court judges into play. This enlarged the number of Brexit decision makers to a total of 15 individuals, dangerously close to mob rule in the establishment mindset, but still preferable to dictation by 17.4 million stupid plebs.

Meanwhile, the moat cleansers and duck-house proprietors at Westminster staged a vote on invoking Article 50 – the right supposedly denied to them that the Remain-supporting litigants were fighting to secure for MPs. Our legislators will know early in 2017 whether the Supreme Court will award them the right to hold the vote they actually held on Wednesday.

It was disingenuous of the Remain litigants to pretend to come to the rescue of a gagged House of Commons. That House can bring down any government at any time by means of a vote of No Confidence. It can vote on anything if a majority of members wish to do so. In an attempt to put some flesh on the skeletal case, there were suggestions the Court might insist Parliament pass legislation.

So, have we got this right? The courts are now arrogating to themselves the right to order Parliament to pass legislation of the judiciary’s choosing? That, in any case, is the last thing MPs want to do. Although a majority of them are as pro-EU and anti-British as Tony Blair, they fear the triple terrors of deselection, constituents’ revenge at the ballot box and the rough justice of the lamppost if they overtly resist Brexit.

The dogs in the street know the High Court should have recused itself collectively from this vexatious litigation and declared treaty negotiation under royal prerogative – and Brexit is all about treaties, from Rome to Lisbon – non-justiciable within its jurisdiction. Instead, activist judges chose to build their part, as they have consistently done in recent decades. As a consequence, the last diminishing shreds of respect for the judiciary have been dissipated. A mass circulation daily newspaper featured the photographs of the three judges on its front page with the headline: “Enemies of the People”.

Cue orchestrated indignation by the establishment. The elites have a knee-jerk response to any impertinent criticism of the institutions that protect their ascendancy. It is a disciplinary system honed in public schools, at high table and in the gothick grotesquerie of the Palace of Westminster. Assume a severe expression that effectively combines superior knowledge (one is an expert, defending experts), disdain for the ignorance of one’s interlocutor and a clear message that the heretical critic’s career prospects are becoming more dismal by the minute, then deliver the formal reprimand.

This is uttered in the relevant formula dictated by the object of the blasphemy. “These judges are the finest legal brains in the land…” “So you choose to ignore the established consensus of 160 per cent of scientists regarding anthropogenic global warming…” “Britain will descend to Third World status within five years unless it joins the single currency…” These solemn-faced buffoons are still indulging in this pantomime of pseudo-authority and increasingly, fearfully, wondering why it is being laughed to scorn by the public.

That public for too long accorded an undeserved deference to politicians, judges and commentators who brought this country to its knees under the pressure of mass immigration, fiscal incompetence, judicial indulgence of criminality (though not of Christian bakers) and globalist anti-patriotism. It does so no more. The public knows we are governed by pompous idiots and, more significantly, that they are idiots inimical to Britain’s interests and to the despised mass of the population. It is no longer prepared to tolerate the dictatorship of this confederacy of dunces.

The British Constitution is an oxymoron. Its being unwritten is an advantage if it is executed by men of goodwill who respect its spirit. In the hands of scoundrels it is an instrument of tyranny. In 1689, for example, such scoundrels declared that James II had “deserted the throne”, at a time when he still ruled Ireland with the exception of two towns and was actively raising an army to fight for the throne he had allegedly deserted. Expect similar creative mendacity throughout the struggle by the political class to re-impose its control over the insurgent electorate by reversing or diluting the EU referendum result.

Respect! Respect! That is the establishment demand on behalf of the “finest legal brains” of the Supreme Court. After all, that venerable court has been the pivot of justice throughout Britain’s seven-year history (“Hey, look – I mean – this is a young country,” as the Supreme Court’s first begetter told us). One of those fine brains spared an armed robber prison, instructing him instead to send flowers to his victims by way of apology.

The public no longer finds the other-worldly delusory mentality of Britain’s Gilbert and Sullivan institutions endearing. Behind a smokescreen of pedantry the reality is that the judiciary, hugely pro-EU as their CVs mostly demonstrate (otherwise the quangocrats would not have appointed them), are trying to stop Brexit. If they refrain from doing so in their judgement, which events have already rendered obsolete, it will only be because they will be deterred by the embarrassing transparency of such a ploy.

Either way, the British public is now as alienated from the judiciary as from the legislature. Patronising appeals to the ignorant public to defer to supposed “experts” fall on deaf ears. If Britain’s total emancipation from the doomed European Union is not proceeded with quickly, there will be very serious trouble. Nor is it any longer credible that the current established order can survive after the Brexit process.

With an avg. 1.2M voters per MEP & Britain having only 8%, if united, say. The EUropean Parliament has no ability to make policy and has a Commission of unelected bureaucrats, thus clearly the EU is not even a pretence of being a democracy; yet it is willing to slaughter people in Sovereign States to impose democracy on them!
The imposition of a Government and policies upon its vassal regions such as the peoples of Greece shows just how far from being a democracy the EU is.There will be little or no change in Britain’s economic position, when we leave the EU and by then being a part of the Eropean Economic Area all will benefit, as we secure trade relations with the EU vassal regions and can trade and negotiate independently on a global stage.
One huge benefit will be that we can negotiate with bodies like the WTO, UN, WHO, IMF, CODEX and the like, directly in our own interest and that of our partners around the world in both the Commonwealth and the Anglosphere at large; rather than having negotiations and term imposed by unelected EU bureacrats.
The greatest change and benefit will be political, as we improve our democracy and self determination, with the ability to deselect and elect our own Government, which with an improved Westminster structure, see >Harrogate Agenda<.
How we go about the process of disentangling our future well being from the EU is laid out in extensive, well researched and immensly tedious detail see >FleXcit< or for a brief video summary CLICK HERE
