Afghanistan & More Show ‘Victory Into Defeat’:

The War Crimes of Tony Blair & others!

Hi,

I well remember Field Marshall Viscount Bill Slim’s book ‘Defeat into Victory’ which I read whilst studying Military History at Sandhurst his story of Burma was exemplary, when you consider the British military propensity for crass leaders to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory – whether it was the massacres of The Indian Mutiny, The Boer War, various Afghan interventions, The River Wars, The Zulu War, The Sudan War, much in The First World war and much besides.
It can be contended that winning wars has more to do with luck than the skill of Generals and to be sure all wars are the failure of politicians – now we have the crass failures of the clearly low grade leaders both military and political in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and the like!
At the moment, as shown in the article below although the military leaders try to pretend the interventions in Iraq & Afghanistan were something other than an embarrassing and incompetent rout with related ignominious retreat and withdrawal having failed, there are some willing to admit their own failure, whilst others try to re-write the facts to show in good light!

Defence: admissions of failure

Friday 24 October 2014

000a BBC-024 AFG.jpg

Suddenly in the news again is Afghanistan, with the BBC trailing its programme, “The Lion’s Last Roar”, to be shown on BBC 2 on 26 October.

Then, it seems, we are supposed to go through the charade of watching the dismal breed of men that have been taking money under false pretences as Army generals, admitting to their mistakes in Afghanistan. And that is more than five years after they had become obvious to anyone with more than two brain cells to rub together.

It was, for instance, on Monday 17 August 2009 that we wrote on our sister blog, the Defence of the Realm:

… As we have watched the train wreck that masquerades as strategy in this benighted country, we have become more and more convinced that it is wrong – totally, completely, fundamentally wrong.

It cannot succeed. It will not succeed and the inevitable outcome is that, after the expenditure of much more of our treasure – which we can ill-afford – and the death of many more fine men (and, probably, some women), we will be forced into a humiliating retreat, dressed up as victory, leaving the country in no better a condition than when we found it – if not worse.

And now, those five years later, we have the BBC telling us that: “Military leaders failed to calculate the magnitude of the conflict in Afghanistan”, with Gen. Wall admitting they “got it wrong”. “We had put forward a plan saying that for the limited objectives that we had set ourselves, this was a reasonable force. And I freely admit now, that calculus was wrong”, Wall says.

Yet Dannatt, CGS from 2006 to 2009 – and possibly the worst head of the Army we’ve had in living memory (and the man the Conservatives wanted to use as a military advisor) – is still more interested in covering his back.

Having completely misread the tactical position in both Iraq – where he thought the military effort could be scale down at the height of the insurgency – and in Afghanistan, where he thought he could Hoover up the Taliban with fast-moving squads of men in eight-wheeler mine-trap APCs – now has the gall to tell us:

Looking back we probably should have realised, maybe I should realised, that the circumstances in Iraq were such that the assumption that we would get down to just 1,000 or 1,500 soldiers by summer 2006 was flawed – it was running at many thousands.

We called it the perfect storm, because we knew that we were heading for two considerable size operations and we really only had the organisation and manpower for one.

And therefore perhaps we should have revisited the decision that we the UK would lead an enlarged mission in southern Afghanistan in 2006. Perhaps we should have done that. We didn’t do that.

Then we have the commander of the British forces in Helmand in 2006, Brig Ed Butler, saying: “We were underprepared, we were under-resourced, and most importantly, we didn’t have a clear and achievable strategy to deliver success”.

It is all very well having these ex post facto confessionals, but the point is – as we argued again and again on Defence of the Realm – it was obvious at the time that the campaign was failing and was doomed to failure. So obvious was it that, in July 2008, we wrote a 12-part analysis called “Winning the War“, setting out why we thought things were going wrong.

Now for these highly-paid fools to be admitting that they got things wrong, when they were paid to get it right – and amply rewarded with rank, baubles and privileges for so doing – is simply not good enough.

But the worst of it is that nothing will change. It has only taken the Army five years as a corporate body to convince itself that it scored a stunning victory in Iraq, despite the evidence I record in Ministry of Defeat. By the time the whitewash machine has completed its work, the Army will emerge unblemished from Afghanistan as well.

And nor do I buy the Oborne line that this was a case of “Lions led by donkeys”. For sure, amongst the very small fraction of troops in theatre who actually saw combat, there were some amazingly brave people. But there were crass, ill-informed decisions made at all levels, and by all arms.

In terms of the bigger picture, in every theatre in recent times, the Army has been badly led, badly generalled and has under-performed. One warms to the idea of slashing the Armed Forces to the bare minimum. At least then our politicians will no longer be tempted to deploy them. We simply cannot afford any more of these corporate “victories” that the Army insists on delivering.

David Miliband Admits He Voted Based On Tony Blair’s Lies

Hi,

it is interesting to note that David Milliband in his efforts to disassociate himself from his own decision to vote for the obscene abuse of power and murderous invasion of Iraq by exposing the truth that Tony Blair and some in his clique deliberately lied about Sheik Hussein claiming dishonestly, with lies to Parliament, The Queen, the peoples of Britain and our allies that Iraq held weapons of mass destruction usable on an international basis.

We all now know that this was a deliberate lie by Tony Blair and a few of his odious Labour cronies synically supported by John Scarlet who Blair rewarded with a Knighthood for his dishonesty and the fabrication of false ‘intel’ and the ‘Dodgey Dossier’ exposed to Channel 4 News and Newsnight andf the world by myself, with the help of 3 associates.

We then note in the article below that Tony Blair is still telling lies in an effort to obfuscate the truth and avoid his rightful place facing the International Court in the Hague on a charge of War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity.

It is also worth noting the obscene action taken against Liyia by Britain and a few allies based on the contrived ‘Arab Spring’ and the destabilising of both Libya, Egypt and the Middle East by these actions including the apparent condoning of the obscene murders of both Sadam Hussein and Murmar Gadaffi and 1,000s of innocent civilians.

Little wonder that we were resoundingly defeated in Iraq, Libia and Afghanistan and sadly as the actions were based on lies and ineptitude one can only concede we were deservedly defeated.

How dare our political crooks use our military forces as mere bully boys and mercenaries for their own political aspirations!

To say nothing of the Western World’s supply of arms and failure to act to prevent the War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity of the Zionist oppressors and butchers of the IDF Terrorist Forces and their abuse of power and slaughter of the indiginous Palestinian peoples they hold captive behind walls and barbed wire and shoot, bomb and mortar with sophisticated weapons with the acquescence of Western Politicians and the profiteering of Western Arms Barons!

Iraq War Created Isis, Concedes David Miliband

The 2003 invasion of Iraq by the US and its ally the UK helped to destabilize the country, leading to the rise of militant group Isis, admitted former UK foreign secretary David Miliband.

As the US launched air strikes on the militant group that has seized controls of swathes of Iraq, Milliband said that the situation in the country nine years after the war “induces a high degree of humility”.

“It’s clearly the case that the invasion of Iraq, or more importantly what happened afterwards, is a significant factor in understanding the current situation in the country,” Miliband told the Observer.

Asked whether the conflict ravaging the country had led him to regret voting in favour of war in Iraq, Miliband, who is now chief executive of charity the International Rescue Committee, replied: “I regret it because I made a decision on the basis of upholding the norms of respect to weapons of mass destruction, and there were none.”

He said that he accepted that the consequences of the Iraq war had left the majority of the public in the US and the UK unwilling to support interventions in the Middle East, even to prevent humanitarian catastrophes, such as Syria.

“You have to, you have to take responsibility,” said Miliband. He added: “You can’t press the rewind button.”

When asked if deposed dictator Saddam Hussein would have been able to hold the country together, he replied “perhaps”.

The remarks contrast with those of former prime minister Tony Blair, who in an essay on his website in June, described as “bizarre” the view that the chaos resulting from the Iraq war had led to the rise of Sunni jihadist Islamic State, formerly known as Isis.

“We have to liberate ourselves from the notion that ‘we’ have caused this,” Blair said. “We haven’t.”

#G387* – CAN TheGagged GIVE AN ANSWER or WILL THAT MANY DIE IN THE RIOTS?

LONDON, ENGLAND - JANUARY 29: A protester dres...Image by Getty Images via @daylifeHi,

what can only be seen to be the heartfelt and very genuine complaint of an ex-soldier, who has served in The middle east – let us not forget the many such complaints from the confused youth of America when they returned to the arms of Hanoi Jane and the peoples of America who had sent them, to that sordid and dishonest war in Viet-nam.

Let us also not forget for the 56,000 American lads who died in Nam 2million+ of the indigenous peoples were killed by high altitude bombing and the ordinance scattered on the ground – yet that still left an estimated 120,000+ Viet-nam vets to commit suicide over the following years!

We do not know the true cost of these foolish wars in Iraq & Afghanistan yet – they will just be more statistics in the crimes against humanity of Tony Blair and his vile cabinet.

MODERATORS/ADMINISTRATORS

If it is a breach of the rules to make personal attacks and slanderous allegations about other members, could you please explain why the accusations made by **** about soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan go uncensored?

These are personal attacks against any member of the Armed Service, and there are several here, including myself, who take this as a personal attack.

Please ensure the rules are enforced the same for all members, regardless of their politics, and ensure such attacks are censored in future.

Hi,

I am neither a moderator nor an administrator but I have been on this forum for a number of years – was Sandhurst trained, have toted a fire arm in one form or another for about 10 or 11 years – have loaded the bodies and support the British military to a level that seems greater than our current political class or the scum like Tony Blair and his cabinet and their crimes against humanity, lies and thus war crimes for which I believe they should stand trial.

I note Blair has been recalled by Chilcott and hope this will be just another inexorable step towards his trial.

I also support the British military to a rather more honest degree than did the likes of Jackson or Dunnat – both of whom I hold in contempt for their unmittigated failure as men of integrity.

I also support the movement to withdraw our military from Afghanistan before they are, as they were in Iraq – chased out in ignominy.

The British Military seem not to have a clue what they are doing and their CIGS lacks the balls to challenge the politicians or to even ascertain what the mission aim is or withdrawal policy.

We are loosing decent young men utterly needlessly and to no viable end and neither the military or the politicians seem to have the slightest comprehension of what they are doing, how or why – even their understanding of agriculture and the geography seems woefully lacking when we invade an aggrarian economy with 22,000 personnelle and then import all our food – you want to pacify the region give them a reason to like us BUY LOCAL – it works in most villages in Britain!!!

Then start to understand the 400 year tribal war and who is fighting who and why!

Then observe the Chinese grinning over the passes waiting for us to be thrashed so they can trade with the locals and buy the resources they NEED as they have in Africa.

The first need is the world’s largest un tapped copper and if you want to use the oil from Somalia, the other minerals you have bought when you BOUGHT Zim, SA, Congo, Chad, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, now Sierra Leone you NEED copper and Kitwe is nearly played out – The copper is the ONLY viable way to transport power – electric cables!

Now perhaps you will be offended but sadly so be it – I would contend the defence against your complaint as copied in this post might well be ‘Veritas’ however I would personally take care in not attributing it to the squaddies and junior officers but I do incline the Generals are guilty as charged.

There is little if anything that the Politicians and High Command have managed to get right in this series of unlawfull and crass wars in which we are failing abysmally on almost every count.

As for the so called stoooodents they are as ever playing it wrong and being exploited and the police as ever have proved utterly incompetent and extremely foolish.

Perhaps the idea CLICK HERE may be a way to progress for if it isn’t you ain’t seen nothing yet – just wait till the currency collapses we no longer have the land mass to support our people largely due to the utter irresponsibility of the last 13 unlucky years but the previous politicians must also share the blame for laying the ground rules for the betrayal and subsequent invasion by mass migration – these United Kingdoms have in the last 10 years experienced a larger influx of aliens by percentage than in any previous 10 years in history.

IF the idea of >TheGagged< with absolutely Silent & Peaceful display can not be made to work we will have lost a pressure valve that will lead to the worst riots this Country has ever known – the worst will be the food riots as marauding gangs go from house to house looting and stealing food and local militias try to defend that which they have.

We are over populated by at least a factor of 2 maybe even 3 – fortunately we are a border contained Country defended by the sea. EUrope will be less fortunate in the wars of disassociation as each grouping tries to secure what it can in the break up of the EU and the collapse of centralised control starting with the collapse of currency that will drive America within its borders where it DOES have the land mass to survive as an internalised though greatly reduced peoples.

EUrope could see as many as 200,000,000 deaths within 25 years of the open rioting becoming a norm.

By all means hope that I am wrong but be prepared for the fact that I am probably not.

In sorrow not in anger,
In shame not in judgement,
Regards,
Greg_L-W.
