Mandele’s Africa & the Metissage is Global (G021)

in reading recently I came across an article in Harpers by Breyten Breytenbach; which immediately struck me both for its competence in the use of English, as it painted a colourful picture, but also for its insight into the Africa I know and have watched with increasing horror, as the fashionable West adulated the terrorist Mandele, so close in aim all be it ameliorated by over 2 decades in prison relative to the horrors of Mugabe’s regime.

You can read the article in my Google Docs if you Click Here

To try to put a value on Freedom is as futile as floccipaucinihilipilification and the metissage of our societies, as we rummage in the ashes of our dreams, the flotsam of our hopes and the jetsam of our lives.

The Sioux Might Wish to Warn The Irish (G020)

The Sioux Might Wish to Warn The Irish (G020)

29-Dec-2008 marks the 118th. anniversary of the massacre of The Lakota Souix under Chief Big Foot of The Miniconjou Souix at Wounded Knee less than 2 weeks after the murder of Sitting Bull by US Cavalry at Standing Rock Reservation.

Similarly 29-Nov was the 144th. anniversary of the massacre, by the Militia of Colnel John Chivington, of a defenceless Cheyenne and an Arapaho villages at Sand Creek.

The Irish may care to learn from the wisdom of the Indiginous peoples of America – Never trust a treaty signed against one’s better instincts, against one’s will and sold to such an extent that they were prepared to lie.

The Cheyenne, The Arapaho, Sitting Bull, The Miniconjou, The Lakota and Big Foot had binding Treaty Agreements with a nascent super State seeking to increase its control.

Some amongst The Irish will recal that John Major signed an agreement with The EU termed by The Sun newspaper on its banner front page as Game, Set & Match to Major yet it seems it was not valid since The EU have just arbitrarily overturned the Treaty – as did The Colorado Militia and the US 7th. Cavalry.

It would seem that The EU is no respecter of agreements either and Ireland is to vote again to make it possible to claim they voted for their own demise as a Nation State! No massacre here just the death of democracy and self determination granted at great cost in 1922.

& to think that Declan Ganley AND the British Tory Party are so stupid as to believe that The EU can be changed from within! Sand Creek Colorado and Wounded Knee will hold no torch to the massacres that will result from the enforcement of The EU on a largely resistant peoples!

Britain’s Finances having been in the hands of an economic illiterate since 1997 there is no chance a mere American President will be able to clear up the mess even if he is happy to fund the obscene excesses of the State sponsored terrorism of Zionist brutality, to fire up the Military Industrial Complex.

“We can’t expect the American people to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of Socialism, until they awaken one day to find that they have Communism.”–Nikita Khrushchev

To try to put a value on Freedom is as futile as floccipaucinihilipilification and the metissage of our societies, as we rummage in the ashes of our dreams, the flotsam of our hopes and the jetsam of our lives.

Going down the EU Tube: Brussels videos shunned

Robert Watts and Georgia Warren

The European Union’s answer to YouTube, the internet video sharing phenomenon, has backfired, with audiences shunning many of the clips intended to promote pet subjects in Brussels.

Eighteen months on from the creation of EU Tube many of the videos posted on the website have attracted only a few dozen viewers.

An EU Tube video entitled Controlling the Use of Chemicals in Europe has been watched 56 times. Another film, Better Rights for Temporary Workers, has attracted 70.

EU Tube’s attempts to adopt street language have also misfired, with ventures such as a three-minute “euro-rap”, which urges young viewers “you gotta be a part of” a united Europe.

“Get on our team, you know what I mean,” the rapper sings, surrounded by teenagers brandishing the EU flag. “It’s the return of the blue. See I’m going to move across from Germany to Paris, oui. We get united and take a stand in solidarity. I speak in all ’hoods.”
One visitor, Opaz, writes: “It’s like Nazi Hitler Youth propaganda with aggressive music. Be a part of what? The destruction of our nations, homelands and security so that the rich can own and control us. Overlords of EU go to hell!”

EU Tube also displays a bizarre 30-second animation featuring an amorous chess piece and a condom to illustrate safe sex. “Chess love – safe sex is a game for two,” the video concludes.
The channel was perhaps seeking to emulate the success of one of its most popular videos: a three-minute series of clips of people having sex, ending with the words “Let’s come together”. The video, intended to promote the Brussels film subsidy, received more than 7.1m hits.

EU Tube is funded out of a €207m (£196m) communication budget from Brussels. So far the channel has attracted 7,391 subscribers. The community has a population of 500m.
The website is one of dozens of examples of EU marketing documented in a 160-page dossier compiled by Open Europe, the eurosceptic think tank.

The report claims the EU is spending €2.4 billion a year on lobbying, press officers, advertising and other types of “propaganda” including scholarships. It also says the EU sends out more than 1m promotional brochures, balloons and pens each year.

Other schemes funded by the taxpayer included:

— An event for young people on the Isle of Wight, justified on the grounds that students there might have below-average contact with their European peers: “This can make them seem insular and antiEuropean.”

— A film featuring young people waving EU flags to the tune of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, in support of the Young European Federalists.

— Funding of €7m to enhance public awareness of the common agricultural policy.
Lorraine Mullally, director of Open Europe, said: “Taxpayers should not be footing the bill for vain PR exercises to make us love the European Union.”

A spokesman for the European commission in London said:
“This is not propaganda, we are simply providing information.”

He added that the commission “did not recognise” the €2.4 billion figure.

“So if 2009 goes horribly wrong it’s probably because there’s a run on a major currency or a Government bond market than because of wide scale corporate defaults. At the moment the UK remains the lowest hanging developed market fruit. For those of us living in the UK it remains scary how exposed we are to the full force of this credit crisis.” To quote Jim Reid of Deutsche Bank.

It all starts with Gordon’s celebrated 1997 raid on the pension funds by abolishing the dividend tax credit. This also hit those holding equities in PEPs. As a result pension funds received less income from their equity investments making equities as an asset class less attractive to pension funds. Now as pension funds were the largest holders of equities the demand for equities was less, their price fell and so hence so did the value of the pension fund itself, a vicious circle, leading to the underfunded pension fund corporate scenario and the Equitable Life bust.

As always Gordon responded with more regulations to curb these naughty fund managers and thus arose the MFR rules in which R Maxwell, deceased, played no small part. So the new investment paradigm of asset liability matching became the fashion and as bond interest is tax deductible for corporates and is paid gross to pension funds, corporate bonds became the asset of choice for pension funds.

Boots PLC was one of the first into this bond/equity switch and did very well out of it.

Unfortunately the UK corporate bond market is neither very big or very liquid. At the same time Gordon’s coffers were awash with cash from the sale of mobile phone licences so not a lot of gilts were being issued either. Gordon was working hard to rectify that by thinking up all sorts of igenious ways to spend our money of which more later.

Never ones to let a sucker go unsatisfied the US investment banks spotted an opportunity. If they lent money as mortgages to the great US house aspirant, then parcelled up these mortgages as nice little bite sized chunks, stuck a seal of good housekeeping approval, called a credit rating on the package, easy as they paid the credit rating agencies, then offer these tasty morsels with a much more attractive yield than gilts or corporate bonds to pension funds then bingo they just flew off the shelf.

For the investment banks who were raking in huge fees it was a licence to print money.

But as always it was too good to last, The need to issue more mortgages lead to a drop in the ability of the mortgagee to repay, some did not. A default ensued and questions started to be asked. Gordon however had now got his gilt issuance firing on all cylinders helped by the credit crunch and the need for cash to nationalise these banks who may be holding these securitized, now rechristened, toxic assets.

And who was buying Gordon’s new gilts?
Why the pension funds of course.

But again as we approach 2009 there is a snag, the UK pension funds cannot now supply Gordon’s gargantuan appetite for cash. These will have to sold to non-UK funds. Hence the Treasury’s laid back attitude to the fall in Sterling. Sterling is now low enough to assure foreign buyers, after a stabilisation period at this low level, that their risk of Forex loss on buying gilts is minimal and indeed they may gsin on the deal.

Hence the 10 year Gilt-Bond spread has come down from 50 bps to around 20 bps in the last 2 months. Johnny Foreigner wil save the pound despite Gordon!

Compare this with what has happened to Greek and Italian bonds. The Greek -Bond spread has gone out from 90 bs to 225 bps in the same period and the Italian from 75 bps to 135 bps. Unlike Gordon neither of these countries as members of the Euro can print the money to repay or service this debt. The are in the hands of the ECB.The markets know this and going forward into 2009 will not be keen to buy Greek and Italian sovereign debt, Civil unrest will spread throughout Greece and into Italy as these governments struggle to finance their debt and will threaten to default.

If this happened it would be the end of the Euro.

The EU cannot let this happen and will have to step in. They will do this by either underwriting Greek and Italian bonds or more likely issue EU bonds whose proceeds can be lent on to Greece and Italy.

This is the real danger in 2009.

Once this happens the EU is effectively a sovereign country and pressure to increase its tax base will increase dramatically. Increasing amounts of the UK tax take will be hypothecated to the EU. We lose a bit more of our independence and the power of Brussels grows yet more.

One Can Reasonably Empathise with ANY Style of Self Defence from a LARGELY UnArmed Peoples Under Seige (G009)

The Lebanese Hezbollah terrorist organization lacks missiles to “defend” itself from Israeli aircraft, former President Jimmy Carter claimed upon returning from a trip last week to Lebanon.

Jimmy Carter laments: Terrorists lack ‘defense’ against Israel

By Aaron Klein©2008 WorldNetDaily

TEL AVIV – The Lebanese Hezbollah terrorist organization lacks missiles to “defend” itself from Israeli aircraft, former President Jimmy Carter claimed upon returning from a trip last week to Lebanon.

“The general showed us a graph of the many flights of Israeli planes over all parts of Lebanon, averaging about a dozen each day. Neither Hezbollah nor the Lebanese Armed Forces have any anti-aircraft weapons for defense,” wrote Carter in a first-person report posted on his Carter Center website.

Carter was recounting how upon his trip to the region, Italian General Claudio Graziano, chief of the UNIFIL international forces deployed in southern Lebanon, brought him on a tour of the Israeli-Lebanese border.

Inside the United Nations by Steve Bonta

“At one site near the border, two different Israeli tanks came about 70 yards from us to observe our group,” Carter wrote, before claiming Hezbollah lacks anti-aircraft weapons for “defense” against Israeli over flights.

The information may not be accurate. Israel has some intelligence indicating Hezbollah may have smuggled anti-aircraft missile batteries along the Syrian-Lebanese border. Also, the London Sunday Times reported in August in an unconfirmed report that Brigadier-General Muhammad Suleiman had been supplying Hezbollah with advanced Syrian SA-8 anti-aircraft missiles. Suleiman was a key aide to Syrian President Bashar Assad and was assassinated that month under mysterious circumstances.

Regardless of whether Hezbollah possesses anti-aircraft missiles, Israeli overflights, which have been ongoing since the end of the Second Lebanon War, have not targeted or endangered any Hezbollah operatives. Israel says the overflights are crucial to collect intelligence on the continued smuggling of mass quantities of weaponry to Hezbollah across the Syria-Lebanon border – an area that is supposed to be patrolled by UNIFIL.

Israeli security officials complain the Israel Air Force routinely provides UNIFIL with exact smuggling routes backed up with photographic evidence but that the international force has done almost nothing to stop the regular smuggling.

Never Ever conflate Judaism with Zionism – it is as foolish to claim that Jews are Zionists as it is to either claim Semites are Jewish or Muslims are Hezbollah – though Jews may well be Semites as are the Hezbollah Muslims!

The differentiation is essential and often overlooked by the corrupt and the dishonest – unwilling to allow that it is Neither Anti Semetic nor anti Jewish to repudiate the vile expansionism of Zionism and the evil manner in which they exploit their fascist land grab and exploit Judaism as a shelter for thier evil.

One can serve one’s knowledge well by ploughing through The Israeli Links Page; likewise one’s understanding will be enhanced by open minded reading of The Israeli Committee Against House Demolition; finally may I commend that you read The Golden Report to better understand the evils imposed upon Palestine its land and its peoples by the evils that are irefutably Zionist in origin, execution and aims!

An in depth reading will ensure a far less ya boo style of idiocy when it comes to the realisation of just how evil Zionism surely is and just how much harm it does the good name of Judaism.

Letter to the European Parliament on Turkey’s
banning of

by Sophie in ‘t Veld MEP

Brussels, 18 November 2008

Olli Rehn,
Commissioner for Enlargement,
European Commission,
rue de la Loi 200,
1040 Brussels.

Dear Commissioner Rehn, dear Olli,

I am writing to express my concern at reports of
a Turkish court compromising freedom of
expression in the context of Turkey’s
application to join the EU.

I would like you to investigate the specific
example given below and attempt to see if it
forms (as we fear) part of a wider picture of
concern, and take the matter up with the Turkish

The example we cite relates to the blocking of
the website of Professor Richard Dawkins, the
world-famous evolutionary biologist. A criminal
court in Istanbul reportedly banned the site in
September 2008 on the grounds that it “violated”
Adnan Oktar’s personality after Professor
Dawkins criticised Oktar creationist book ‘Atlas
of Creation’, which is being distributed in
Europe in large numbers.

The basis of our complaint is the web/press
reports shown in Appendix 1, which were drawn to
my attention by the UK’s National Secular
Society of which I am a Honorary Associate. I am
also writing as the Chair of the EU Working
Group for the Separation of Religion and Politics.
Such blockings are in stark contrast to the
progress you have been calling for as one of the
conditions for Turkey’s succession to the EU.

What is happening is worse than Turkish
authorities not standing up for freedom of
expression; it appears that the state’s
mechanism itself is enforcing the restriction on
freedom of expression.

Our concern about the banning does not rest in
principle on Professor Dawkins’ eminence;
however the court’s decision is all the more
worrying, given it is difficult to think of
anyone more qualified than him to speak on
science matters, being the Chair for the Public
Understanding of Science at Oxford University.

We believe it essential that the EU remains
committed to insisting that countries are not
permitted to accede until they conform to
fundamental rights. We admire your work in this
area and note in Appendix 2 below a number of
references you have made to requiring Turkey to
improve freedom of expression, for the benefit
of others who read this letter, which we regard
as an open one.

I look forward to receiving confirmation that
you intend to investigate the matter, and
subsequently what action you intend to take,
including making references to renewed concerns
in your reports about the progress being made by
candidate states in the vital areas of
fundamental rights.

Yours sincerely,
Sophie in i’t Veld MEP

U.S. Military Preparing for Domestic Disturbances

Tuesday, December 23, 2008 1:14 PM

By: Jim Meyers

A new report from the U.S. Army War College discusses the use of American troops to quell civil unrest brought about by a worsening economic crisis.

The report from the War College’s Strategic Studies Institute warns that the U.S. military must prepare for a “violent, strategic dislocation inside the United States” that could be provoked by “unforeseen economic collapse” or “loss of functioning political and legal order.”

Entitled “Known Unknowns: Unconventional ‘Strategic Shocks’ in Defense Strategy Development,” the report was produced by Nathan Freier, a recently retired Army lieutenant colonel who is a professor at the college — the Army’s main training institute for prospective senior officers.

He writes: “To the extent events like this involve organized violence against local, state, and national authorities and exceed the capacity of the former two to restore public order and protect vulnerable populations, DoD [Department of Defense] would be required to fill the gap.”

Freier continues: “Widespread civil violence inside the United States would force the defense establishment to reorient priorities in extremis to defend basic domestic order … An American government and defense establishment lulled into complacency by a long-secure domestic order would be forced to rapidly divest some or most external security commitments in order to address rapidly expanding human insecurity at home.”

International Monetary Fund Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn warned last week of riots and unrest in global markets if the ongoing financial crisis is not addressed and lower-income households are beset with credit constraints and rising unemployment, the Phoenix Business Journal reported.

Sen. James Inhofe of Oklahoma and Rep. Brad Sherman of California disclosed that Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson discussed a worst-case scenario as he pushed the Wall Street bailout in September, and said that scenario might even require a declaration of martial law.

The Army College report states: “DoD might be forced by circumstances to put its broad resources at the disposal of civil authorities to contain and reverse violent threats to domestic tranquility. Under the most extreme circumstances, this might include use of military force against hostile groups inside the United States.

“Further, DoD would be, by necessity, an essential enabling hub for the continuity of political authority in a multi-state or nationwide civil conflict or disturbance.”

He concludes this section of the report by observing: “DoD is already challenged by stabilization abroad. Imagine the challenges associated with doing so on a massive scale at home.”

As Newsmax reported earlier, the Defense Department has made plans to deploy 20,000 troops nationwide by 2011 to help state and local officials respond to emergencies.

The 130-year-old Posse Comitatus Act restricts the military’s role in domestic law enforcement. But a 1994 Defense Department Directive allows military commanders to take emergency actions in domestic situations to save lives, prevent suffering or mitigate great property damage, according to the Business Journal.

And Gen. Tommy Franks, who led the U.S. military operations to liberate Iraq, said in a 2003 interview that if the U.S. is attacked with a weapon of mass destruction, the Constitution will likely be discarded in favor of a military form of government.

Hey Caroline: You’re Not Entitled

Tuesday, December 23, 2008 1:36 PM
By: Dick Morris & Eileen McGann

Caroline Kennedy apparently thinks that she is entitled
to be appointed as the next junior senator
from New York.

She shouldn’t be. Think about it.

Her qualifications? Her name is Kennedy and she can raise a lot of fat-cat money for herself and for New York Democrats who support her.

Her strategy?

Ignore the voters and the press and meet with the political bosses behind closed doors to persuade them to pressure Gov. David Paterson to appoint her to Hillary Clinton’s seat.
Is there a more cynical message in the Age of Obama?

Who’s supporting her?

Among her chief backers is New York City’s billionaire Republican Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who recently decided to ignore a legitimate and binding citywide referendum that prohibited him from seeking a third term. In one of the most appalling examples of an arrogant “the public be damned” attitude, Bloomberg persuaded the city council to overrule the will of the people so he could stay in city hall. He’s a big contributor to many of the folks who supported this brazen move. Legendary Tammany Hall boss Carmine De Sapio would love both Bloomberg and Caroline for bringing back the old “power to the bosses” style of politics.

Her position on issues that will face the next senator?

She won’t tell you. She has refused adamantly to speak about any issues. In her first foray outside Manhattan, she declined all questions from the press. She wouldn’t even say whether she had ever been to Syracuse before. Does that suggest what the answer would have been?

Her handlers finally provided written answers to some of the questions posed by The New York Times. She picked out the questions she wanted to answer and ignored some of the tough issues, such as whether she supports increased taxes for rich people. She’s not saying, Now, SHE WON’T DISCLOSE HER PERSONAL FINANCES OR PROVIDE A LIST OF COMPANIES THAT SHE HAS A STAKE IN!

Sound like the good old days?

Is this woman kidding?

Her involvement in politics?

Not much. She campaigned for Obama and worked on his committee that recommended the vice-presidential candidate. She’s never been active in New York politics and she hasn’t even voted in about half the contested elections in New York since 1988.

During the past 15 years, she’s contributed to her uncle, Sen. Ted Kennedy; her cousin Rep. Patrick Kennedy; Barack Obama; Hillary Clinton; John Kerry; Al Gore; Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd and Connecticut wanna-be Ned Lamont; and former Pennsylvania Sen. Harris Wofford (1991).
Not much interest in New York’s candidates or issues!

Her experience?

* She is a longtime patron of the American Ballet Theatre.

* She is active in her father’s presidential library.

* She was a part-time volunteer fund raiser for the NYC schools for less than two years.

* She’s co-authored two books on civil liberties.

* She’s written five books.

She is her most derivative in her published works. Of four New York Times best-sellers, three were compilations of other peoples’ work. One was “The Patriot’s Handbook: Songs, Poems, Stories, and Speeches Celebrating the Land We Love.” The only thing these songs, poems, stories, and speeches had in common was that she didn’t write any of them.

Then followed “The Best-Loved Poems of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.” In this book, she not only didn’t write the poetry but also didn’t even choose it. Her third best seller-was “A Family of Poems: My Favorite Poetry for Children,” again a compilation of works that were not her own.
Then there’s “A Family Christmas,” another anthology of her favorite short stories, poems, etc. about Christmas (all written by other people).

* In another book, “Profiles in Courage For Our Time”, she swiped only the title from her late father but wrote the copy herself.

She hasn’t had a job since before she went to law school in the 1980s.

So, why should Caroline be appointed senator?

Does anyone seriously believe that her audacious grab for the New York Senate seat is based on anything more than a misplaced and somewhat grandiose sense of entitlement coupled with a cynical claim of access to big money for the next election?

If her name weren’t Kennedy, would anyone give any consideration at all to someone without any experience to prepare her for the job or to even inform the voters about what she stands for?

Is there a single person in the United States who doesn’t wish Caroline Kennedy well and hope that she’s spared from further tragedy?

Probably not.

But affection, sympathy, and nostalgia shouldn’t be the basis for appointing this woefully inexperienced woman to a key Senate seat in these troubles times.

Her father’s and uncles’ names are the only things that make her a contender.

Doesn’t anyone in New York politics use their own names anymore? Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of the former president, wants to take the Senate seat of Hillary Clinton, the wife of the former president. But some people are pushing for Andrew Cuomo, the son of the former governor.

Are we stuck in political dynasties?

And who will make the decision?

New York’s David Paterson, the son of Basil Paterson, the former New York state senator, secretary of state, and deputy mayor of New York City.

Don’t we have any talented people who don’t feel entitled to inherit a seat? Can’t we stop the political dynasties?

At least Cuomo has his own accomplishments. He was the secretary of HUD in the Clinton administration, and as the elected New York state attorney general, he’s done an outstanding job. Caroline Kennedy has done absolutely nothing to deserve elevation to the United States Senate. A review of hundreds of newspaper articles mentioning her name during the past 20 years show rare substantive issues: her books and book tours, awarding the Profiles in Courage Award to Lowell Weicker for instituting an income tax in Connecticut, very part-time fundraising for the city schools. Even in that regard, her influence is questioned and others are given as much or more credit. The majority of the articles are about her wedding, her mother, her brother, her socialite activities, and her lucrative auction of her mother’s old blankets, picnic baskets, and other household effects.

No, Caroline has not been heard from on any of the important issues facing New Yorkers.
Paterson is a talented politician. He probably will appoint Cuomo anyway for one simple reason: to get him out of the way.

Acutely aware that he was not elected governor but only got the job when Eliot Spitzer self-destructed, Paterson probably would face an uphill primary fight against Cuomo in 2010 if he doesn’t shunt him off into the Senate. Other than the attorney general, there is nobody with the stature to offer Paterson serious opposition in the Democratic Party.

Paterson should not succumb to the lobbying of the bosses and the fat cats for Caroline. She’s not entitled.
