I have for many years felt that the RSPB are an alien species in our midst, that should never have been introduced in the first place; likewise the RSPCA as just like the alien grey squirrel they would seem rapidly to drive out the natural inhabitans.
Consider the alacraty with which theoretical conservationists have decimated, and in some areas erradicated, the natural bird population with introduction and support of over population by heavily protected raptors.
Consider the immense damage being done to the Forest of Dean where I live by protection, nay even support of wild boar!
Also consider the damage being done by failure to cull, to acceptable numberts, badgers as they eat the hedgehogs reducing numbers from an estimated 50 M+, when I was a child, to their present position heading towards being endangered with under 10 M! If all the mustelids including the weasel, badger, otter, marten, ferret, polecat, mink, & stoat as currently found in Britain are protected quite soon there will be no ground nesting birds and many hedgerow nesting birds will be erradicated and lakes and rivers will be stripped of fish.
Well I remember as a youngster going into pubs in areas where the numbers of badgers were starting to damage the balance and finding them as a free snack, roast on the bar, usually cut into crispy little block and for the townies called ‘pork scratchings’! Culling as a form of control was all a part of rural management. Many species would never have survived if the theoretical expert conservationists or the NGOs & Government had held such sway sooner!
We already have people clamouring for reintroduction of the beaver and wolf – when will the RSPCA wish to raise it profile for PR fund raising to grow their empire and raise their salaries by reintroduce ermine, wolverines, honey badgers, bears & big cats!
Also the Forestry Commision which has done little to conserve natural forest but much to destroy the countryside with large swathes of un-natural conifers that are all but barren of our natural species of birds, flora & fauna.
Yet at the very thought of arradicating the invasive and damaging tree rats, the grey squirrel introduced as illegal aliens, that have outbred and destroyed the indiginous populations of the far more alluring red squirrels sweathes of city dwelling experts emerge from their concrete deserts and tell those who have for centuries managed and improved our countryside what they must do.
These town dwellers are all too happy to kill the rodents and pests they interface with, and so often resemble! Yet they presume to legislate for the countryside to such catastrophic ends, where in some areas badgers, boar, raptors & foxes are becoming a plague on the landscape together with great square blocks of black fir trees or stripped/felled hillsides!
This does not even consider damaging and destructive introduced species like the South American capybara or European snail introduced as a protein source by the Romans – Italian restauraunts had a fairly shakey start in England! Now there is the threat of infestation by African Giant Snails introduced as a live food, or Ebola & green Monkey Diseas entering the country as bush meat.
The sooner we gat control of both our borders and our laws back as a country the better off we will be!
One wonders at the failure of the NFU & RSPCA to control the increased probability of rabies and open borders for puppy farming forced on us by the EU and one size fits all idiocy of the CAP or the crass imposition of the EU’s axle loading laws that have so damaged Britain’s villages and cost so many £Billions in extra road & bridge strengthening and widening!
Don’t even begin to consider the obscene costs and damage being planned just to impose an unwanted white elephant HS2, which is nothing more than a senseless vanity project that will never pay and will aid only a tiny minority at the expense of all.
HS2 is a project that is outdated before it even starts; an ill considered project that will syphon jobs from the country and make London, and other cornurbations, even more untennable with its termite colony like high rise death traps and over crowded services and streets!
All this at the very time when we should be decentralising our cornurbations and bringing both the head offices and jobs to rural communities by offering tax breaks to companies and people who employ or are employed within 15 minutes walk of eachother!

This is the very time that we should be disincentivising commuters and closing down rail supply to our great termite heaps like London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Bristol and the like where so many billions of man hours are wasted polluting our atmosphere and country with rail and motor travel!
Our countryside is our future, not just for food production but for quality of life.
