I have been trying to stay out with friends, as the enormity of home alone is hard to come to terms with!
Lee died at 21:01 on Tuesday 20-May-2025 in Southmead hospital. There was no warning of her massive stroke on 06th. An aneurysm of the main artery in the center of the brain that tore through the brain flooding the cerebellum and then the right hemisphere of the brain – There was no hope, despite a 6,1/2 hour operation by 4 top surgeons.
As you can imagine the shock is enormous, it is so very counter intuitive!
There is Nothing anyone can say that mitigates the enormity of the situation.
I will give you fuller details in the fullness of time. Suffice to say her medical care in the hands of the NHS, from my rapid call for an ambulance to her final care has been astonishingly rapid and exemplary – EVERY effort has been made to try to save her and the dignity & gentle care given to her by all who have been charged with the responsibility has been kind, tender, dignified & caring.
May I personally thank the Paramedics, Doctors, nurses, Surgeons, consultants & carers for their kindness and integrity in caring for Lee and supporting me – which can not have been easy in such times.
Thank you for the certainty of your support & friendship of Lee & I, it is of great help.
Lee & I were together for 40 years, virtually 24/7 as we lived together, worked together and did everything together – I guess our life equated to around 250 years of the average marriage!
Lee & I have donated any part of our bodies for use to save the lives of others and there will be no funeral – although my body is donated I must admit I doubt it will be of much use as it is thoroughly time expired having been born 26-Jan-1946.
I hope Lee can be of use and help give life to others.
Lee Lance – Watkins, nee Rowland Daughter of Jean Patricia Rowland nee Davies & Keith Rowland.
Lee was born in Germiston, Johannesburg on 18-May-1962 and died on 20-May-2025 in Southmead Regional Hospital, Bristol – 2 days after her 63rd. birthday.
Let Lee’s untimely death be a lesson to us all – NEVER miss a minute!

Let us not forget others who have gone before us in our Wedding Picture Simon, Brenda, Roger & possibly others!

With love to ALL our friends and what little of our respective families are left to grieve her untimely loss.
It is a shocking loss I will never get over. Even if I find a copy of ‘The Idiots Guide to Starting Life at 79’!
