Prince Harry is in the famous Royal Family of the United Kingdom. He is the younger son of the future King, and a Prince of the blood, and for many years he was one of the most popular members of the family. His marriage to an American woman has subsequently been the catalyst for his changed role within the family hierarchy after he left the United Kingdom in the beginning of 2020. After moving to North America, he has since made himself unavailable to support his grandmother, his father and most importantly his brother. He has chosen to pursue an alternative path in life and yet he still is a family member. Regretfully, he is the proverbial Black Sheep of the family rather than a well respected relative and friend.

Prince Harry grew up as the grandson of a reigning monarch and was given everything a young man could hope for during the course of his privileged upbringing. He grew up in a fishbowl as the world watched on, sometimes cheering him, and other times being surprised by his antics. Most lately his countrymen have loudly booed him which must have been a crushing blow to his overly fragile ego.

Upon his release from a successful military career in the years leading up to his marriage, he managed to accomplish a few triumphant victories, establishing the Invictus Games for wounded veterans and picking up the mantle of some of his late mother’s charities. He began to show interest in humanitarian causes, and his future with the Royal Family seemed to hold a great deal of promise that the whole world eagerly looked forward to.

Yet much has irrevocably changed in less than a decade. In an unprecedented twist of fate, at the Queen’s 70th Jubilee this past June, the man who once seemed to lead a charmed life as one of the most prominent members of the Royal Family was relegated to the second row at the Thanksgiving service at Saint Paul’s Cathedral. His father and brother were seated on one side of the room, while he was seated with his wife on the other side of the Cathedral with the less showcased members of the family. The look on his face was one of suppressed anger, and it was the last time the public witnessed him with any fellow Royals for the remainder of the weekend’s otherwise buoyant Jubilee festivities.

While he was growing up, Prince Harry was always a great favorite with the public. His family patiently stood by him, through thick and through thin. After the abrupt loss of his mother in the tragic accident that cut her own life short, the nation adopted him into their hearts, while his father Prince Charles, and grandparents The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were instrumental in ensuring him continuous comfort well into his early thirties.

He was never a good student, and barely managed to get through Eton. As a young man he was blasted by the press for getting into scuffles with photographers along with a few drunken bar brawls. He once infamously dressed up as a Nazi for a party which was a singularly stupid act. An image of him baring an unmistakable Swastika on his uniform was widely circulated in newspapers around the world and a tough mistake to live down. He issued a tacit apology but it was puzzling nevertheless.

In his early adulthood Prince Harry enthusiastically enjoyed sports and hunting, both on his family estates as well as for big game in Africa. He notably lobbied against hunting restrictions in the United Kingdom with the old school chums who rallied around him. Harry was a boisterous young man, without much direction, known for his hot temper and indulgent behavior, getting into scrapes for drinking and drug use and once for crudely mocking his grandmother in a silly phone call when showing off for his mates.

He had more success in his career in the Army, while serving two tours in Afghanistan. Still, he was occasionally known for his careless lapses in judgement. He referred to some of his fellow servicemen with derogatory racially charged comments, calling them “towelheads” or Pakis. He was never considered to be sensitive and was anything but politically correct.

Once he was trying to describe his girlfriend Chelsea Davy, who lived in South Africa and he pointed out, “Don’t worry. It’s not like she is Black or anything!” Instances like this were embarrassing for the Royal Family but they did everything they could to clean up his messes.

Prince Harry was able to sew his wild oats in relative ease as one of the most eligible bachelors on the planet. Many women were taken with him, and he was endearing and funny wherever he went. He had a few serious girlfriends but seemed restless and ambivalent about settling down, preferring not to sadde himself with too many responsibilities.

But then his younger cousin Princess Beatrice unwittingly introduced him to an American television actress named Meghan Markle. He fell in love with her and was seemingly bewitched by her charms in a relatively short period of time. Suddenly he seemed a changed man, under Meghan’s gripping sway.

Harry took Meghan Markle to Botswana, Africa on their 3rd date. Here they are talking to an elephant. Harry used to be an avid hunter, but he has forsaken it under Meghan’s influence, giving away his many guns.

Rachel Meghan Markle was a 36 year old divorced native of Southern California, who had grown up in the Los Angeles area. She preferred to go by her middle name Meghan, and seems to have dropped “Rachel” while still in elementary school. She had graduated from a Catholic girls school and Northwestern University.

Her Caucasian father, Thomas Markle was a lighting designer on television shows like “Married with Children” and her mother Doria Ragland was a Black yoga instructor, who had once run a gift shop in a strip mall during Meghan’s childhood. Her parents divorced when she was 5 and she split her time between them.

Meghan grew up living comfortably, yet her family was by no means wealthy. Much of her education was funded by her father’s unexpected lottery winnings. She was very different from Prince Harry’s former girlfriends as she confidently pursued him with the fixed concentration of an eagle stalking it’s prey. Her immediate impact on him made Harry seem like putty in her hands.

Meghan Markle is a cunning woman that would have been deemed unsuitable as a spouse for Prince Harry only a few decades before they met each other. This isn’t based on her being biracial, but due the combined factors of her nationality as an American citizen and her divorced status. She is older than him as well as being more worldly, and her career as a series regular on an obscure network TV show didn’t win her any extra points. Her role in “Suits” was the biggest acting job she had ever been given, although most of the public, including her future husband was totally unfamiliar with the show.

It’s far more likely that television audiences would have caught her few appearances as “Suitcase Girl” #24 on the quiz show “Deal or No Deal” or in a national commercial for Tostito’s corn chips. She was an actress with one notable credit before marrying Harry, but suffice to say, she was not a household name, and would most likely be vying for a onetime slot on “Law & Order” right now had she not landed herself a Prince.

Historically under the Royal Family’s standards, work as an actress of her less than distinguished caliber, was marginally akin to thinly veiled prostitution, but the Royal Family surprisingly overlooked that when she appeared upon the scene. The Queen extended special privileges, like attending Christmas at Sandringham, which even the Duchess of Cambridge had not been invited to prior to her marriage to Prince William. They graciously welcomed a foreign actress into the fold and Prince Charles even went so far as to walk her down the aisle in place of her ailing father at their internationally televised wedding. Going against the grain, the family has embraced the changing times, and welcomed her into the Palace as one of their own. The public enthusiastically followed their lead, and was easy to get swept up with the romance of it all. It seemed like a real Cinderella story.

Meghan’s mother was her only family member who attended,though her father was in the hospital after suffering a heart attack. She failed to invite any of her other relatives to the wedding, though she invited George and Amal Clooney, and several other celebrities that were unfamiliar to her. Clooney later confessed that he didn’t know either Meghan or Prince Harry.

Prince Harry was created the Duke of Sussex, making Rachel Meghan Markle Engleson a Grand Duchess in kind. Sussex happens to be an extraordinarily beautiful part of the United Kingdom and their position as top Royals within the extended family was thus firmly established.

Meghan Markle lacked money of her own, coming from a relatively modest background, while her brainchild blog “The Tig” which she had put together on her own was a telling example of her commitment to typically bourgeois, new age pursuits. However, she had not married a future King, but merely the spare heir, whose position as the heir presumptive had been supplanted by Prince William’s three young children. Harry’s wife’s background was less important than had she been the prospective Queen Consort, but in all probabilityboth Harry and Meghan failed to appreciate this in the grand scheme of things.

Because Prince Harry is sixth in the line of succession, the Royal Family’s standards were less exacting than they had been in previous years, when the Queen’s own sister had wanted to marry a divorced man named Peter Townsend. Parliament had refused to support such a match and Princess Margaret was faced with forfeiting her position as a Princess of the United Kingdom. She reluctantly chose to give him up instead of losing her HRH status, as heartbreaking as that must have been.

The Queen wanted to avoid further instances of having to say no to prospective marriages for her family after Princess Margaret’s disappointment and insisted upon more liberal guidelines for Royal matchmaking after that. Therefore Prince Harry was faced with no such opposition in his choice for a wife.

He failed to grasp how much had actually changed since his own father had been compelled to marry his mother, rather than the woman whom he truly preferred. It’s unlikely that Prince Charles would have ever married Princess Diana had he been permitted to choose Camilla Parker Bowles, but in 1980 that was out of the question because she already had a husband. He married Lady Diana Spencer instead at his family’s behest, which made both of them very unhappy in spite of the fact that they had two lovely children together.

Harry was fortunate to marry “for love” unlike many princes and princesses before him. His family might have expressed some reservations over how swiftly things had moved in his relationship. Harry and Meghan had not known each other for very long. In fact, their rapid courtship had given several people pause, including his brother who had waited 9 years to marry the Duchess of Cambridge. Marrying into the Royal Family can be a formidable challenge due to the pressure that comes with it. It is generally more advisable to ease in, rather than to dive in head first. The family must have cringed when Meghan boasted that she would “hit the ground running” but they refrained from trying to explain too much too soon.

She praised her future sister in law, the Duchess of Cambridge whom she referred to as Princess Kate, and must have known that the tabloids don’t always print the truth in spite of her insistence that she never considered it.

Meghan’s status as a minor American television personality was an additional concern for Harry’s family, while her penchant for celebrity culture, all covered in her blog “The Tig” made it more than apparent that she was attracted to the limelight. She also seemed neither prudent or conservative in spending money (the “Tig” is a nickname for her preferred wine of choice, Tiganello, which typically costs at least $200 a bottle). The Royal Family are more understated than extravagant. Prince Charles has been known to wear the same clothing items for decades. Hollywood celebrity culture is very different than the dynamics of the monarchy, but Meghan incorrectly assumed they were similar entities.

Still, the family made a concerted effort to appease her in order to make Prince Harry happy, and they did what they could to accommodate Meghan in her role as his wife. The bill for her wardrobe alone was $450,506 in 2018 compared to the Duchess of Cambridge who spent $85,097. Prince Charles covered the cost from his income from the Duchy of Cornwall, and the whole family attempted to do what they could to help her fit in. Most of their efforts were in vain, and advice that they shared fell upon deaf ears, as Meghan disliked following anyone else’s lead.

The belt was 350 pounds, her handbag 900 pounds, while her Sarah Flint shoes tallied in at 270 pounds. However, she failed to spring for a hat, although she had been notified that the Queen would be wearing one, but she simply didn’t want to.

The Royal Family, as well as the nation, were often puzzled over her atypical approach to doing things, like insisting on being her own stylist and breaking with long established customs, but they have always harbored a special place in their hearts for Harry, particularly after he had been deprived of his much adored late mother. Everyone really hoped that things would work out, and thought that Meghan would adjust to things in time. But Harry seemed to be changing and these changes were hardly improvements.

Prince Harry is neither intellectually gifted or aware of how fortunate his life has actually been. He has committed several avoidable follies in his struggle to navigate adulthood, but in spite of his past faults,and the scuffles that he has gotten into, he has seemed to harbor mostly good intentions. His family and the public offered him more than enough room to make mistakes, because he is prone to be more impulsive than what is normally advisable. Therefore, nuptials with a woman who was both older than him and a headstrong American divorcé to boot, were met with cautious ambivalence from some people because he has never been very discerning. But many people were also happy that he had found someone he genuinely seemed to care for. Fans from around the globe enthusiastically looked toward the future with the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex. It was just hard to imagine how fast things would spin out of control.

The fact that Meghan Markle is ethnically Black as well as White has generally been to her advantage. There might have been a few dinosaurs with racist impulses who thought that her ancestry made her an inappropriate spouse for Harry, but people who objected to her for that reason were the minority as opposed to the norm. The tabloids certainly played up the fact that she was far from being a blue blood. Pointed attacks could be caustic and hyper critical, and she was often placed under a magnifying glass. But being pilloried by the press is par for the course for all new brides who enter into the Royal family, and Meghan Markle was no exception. It takes having a thick skin, no matter what the color, and enough perseverance to weather out the storm. Unfortunately, Meghan was ill prepared to face the flood of negative press she received and blamed most of it on institutional racism. She claims that being criticized caused her to be suicidally depressed.

Meghan, who had identified as White for the majority of her life, and benefited from the privilege of her predominantly European appearance, was also well positioned as a biracial woman to assume a modern role within the historically WASPish British Monarchy. Over a century before Queen Victoria had mentioned that she felt the infusion of “dark blood” would be a welcome addition to the Royal Family’s genetic pool. A traditionally Anglo Saxon institution was finally willing to adopt a more inclusive stance but only the right kind of person would have been able to take this in stride. Meghan is not that person.

Her heritage was actually a potential asset to the Mountbatten Windsors’ future as an increasingly diverse dynasty. Meghan was given a powerful platform to distinguish herself as a new type of Royal and the prospects for this were filled with potential, but this depended upon Meghan’s own ability to make the most of a unique situation. Instead she lapsed into a funk that seemed to overwhelm her abilities to become a team player.

The Royal Family gave her a great deal of breadth to adopt causes that were close to her heart as well as offering her a patronage with The National Theater as something aligned with her career, but she became increasingly despondent. Her staff tried to suggest ways she could make a difference on her own terms, but her personality was often contrary and she was viewed as being abrasive and disrespectful. She also seemed to believe that she was owed things that the Royal Family could not provide.

Headlines call Meghan “The Duchess of Difficult”

She demanded that they control the press and use their influence to put a stop to any negative stories. Meghan and Harry additionally began to sue publications that dared depict her in anything less than a favorable light, rather than rising above unflattering attacks by the press like most brides marrying into the family before her.

She insisted that she go against the grain, abandoning longstanding guidelines in order to do things her own way. She refused to conform, which often contradicted established protocol. She expected to be catered to unconditionally, making the senior staff uncomfortable and bewildering long term members of the Royal household, and she ordered her employees around like a temperamental prima donna.

She was impatient, impertinent and aggressive. She wanted to modernize things and break with traditions, but whenever things didn’t go her way she created unnecessary drama. Many of the staff complained about her treatment of them whereas others quit her service entirely. She began to leave a trail of burnt bridges in her wake, and her new husband didn’t intervene or try to temper her frustrations. Finally when it became glaringly evident that she was perpetually unhappy, it began to rub off on Prince Harry too. He took a stand and echoed her exhaustive string of complaints to “the Firm” expecting them to do something about it.

Prince Harry explained that Meghan was unable to adapt to her new surroundings. He inferred that the family needed to make sure that they make adjustments for her, failing to understand how demanding this sounded. It alarmed the Queen, but as his grandmother, she expected him to work it out with his father. But Harry didn’t want to ask Prince Charles for guidance. Rather he chose to independently work out a solution that seemed reasonable to him and his wife, without help from anyone else.

In the winter of 2019, Harry and Meghan came forward with a public statement detailing an unprecedented proposal that baffled the world. The Duke and Duchess had decided for themselves that they only wanted to work “part time.” They informed the family that they were willing to settle for a half in, half out deal, so they could split up their time between the United Kingdom and the USA. This arrangement was hardly in keeping with their job description!

What did “part time” truly translate to? In 2019, Princess Anne, the Princess Royal and only daughter of Queen Elizabeth, completed 195 working engagements for the Royal Family. Harry managed 98, while Meghan came in last of every family member, completing a grand total of 28 working engagements. How much more “part time” could things get?

In all fairness, Prince Harry was at the forefront of this motion, as he was the one who attempted to broker such an overly idealistic arrangement, and he made the announcement before things had been ironed out with his grandmother, dad or his brother. They were understandably quite blindsided and more than a little put out. Harry was intent on calling all the shots, but failed to consider the long term effects that this abnormal plan would invariably have on everyone involved.

Meghan had the excuse of being a newcomer and since she was his American spouse, she was not the one dealing with the Queen, Prince Charles or Prince William. Harry undoubtedly had failed to school Meghan for her role. Apparently he never properly stressed the importance of remaining loyal to the Queen, his country and his dad and brother. It would have been much better to have prepared her for what her duties were, and he could have helped her traverse the problems she faced, rather than being so quick to fold her cards and give up barely a year and a half into things.

Their beautiful wedding, the exotic trips and lavish wardrobe budget, a beautiful home and all the trappings of life as a Senior Royal couple naturally came at a price. Harry needed to have formulated an agreement with Meghan from the very beginning of their courtship and long before they had children. Theirs’ was not the kind of role which they could simply quit at will.

Had he impressed this upon Meghan prior to their engagement perhaps she could have realistically assessed whether she was up for the job or not. If we are to believe her, she left everything up to him and looked to him to teach her whatever she needed to know. Therefore he should have emphasized what to expect from the family as his wife, and mother of their children.

But once he had a partner in crime, it only made him more petulant and rebellious. Meghan happily obliged his contradictory behavior as much as he catered to her fecklessness. They created a united front as they broke ranks with “the Firm” to branch out on their own, and she encouraged him along the way without any scruples or foresight.

Prince Harry foolishly viewed Meghan as his ticket to a different sort of life, and was using her almost as much as she was using him for fame and visibility. He simply needed an excuse to get out from under his responsibilities as a Prince of the United Kingdom. Yet Harry had been very sheltered, while she desperately egged him on, encouraging him to release them both from everything that he had ever known.

Basically, if Meghan hadn’t known what to expect when entering into the Royal Family, then Prince Harry really had no idea of what he was getting himself into by absconding. Meghan told him that it was not enough to just “live” because they needed to THRIVE! For some reason, it didn’t occur to her that this could have been possible had they had less stringent expectations for everything to fall into place for them right away. All ventures take time and patience in the beginning, but neither Harry or Meghan were satisfied with what had been offered to them as newlyweds. They were unwilling to make any compromises and selfishly put themselves first, in favor of the solidarity found within a unified, intergenerational family, where patience is a virtue and respect must be earned.

The Royal family tried to diffuse the blow by maintaining that nothing had been set in stone, offering Prince Harry a generous out by buying him more time to rationalize what his proposal entailed, but Harry didn’t budge. To the public it looked as though the couple were being either brave or idiotic, but no matter what anyone believed, it was not a strategically conceived proposition. It came as a major upset to the very foundation of the Royal family, and made everyone exceedingly uncomfortable.

For someone with a perpetual Peter Pan complex, the elusive concept of “freedom” sounded pretty good to Prince Harry. He was unsure of what freedom really entailed. If it meant playing Polo at leisure, eschewing formal engagements and living his life without the burden of pedigree, it sounded altogether appealing. If the hallmark of the aristocracy is responsibility, then he was eager to give up both. Responsibility in his eyes is nothing but a trap, and the nobility is expendable unless the advantages are wholly tangible. Nobless Oblige is a foreign concept to him, and has nothing to do with establishing a personally run foundation like Archewell to appear to be altruistic.

Prince Harry enjoys playing polo, which he can now do at his leisure without needing to conform to a predetermined schedule.

Therefore he announced his departure with naive optimism. “I’m going forth not as a Prince but as a man! I’m going to be independent for the first time and make my own money! Just so you know, I am going to protect my family and break the cycle of genetic pain I have suffered! I’ll show EVERYONE because now I have Meghan to help me work these things out!”

He was incredulously tone deaf, imparting “We tell Archie if you can see it, BE IT! And if you’re not happy with what you’re doing, you should quit your job too!“

Of course, he had never paid a bill in his life and he figured that everything for everyone magically falls into place upon a wish. Harry was in for a harrowing awakening, but it was pointless to warn him to not rush into anything when he already had one foot out the door.

Starting out, Harry and Meghan had plans to live in Canada, which as a Commonwealth country, seemed a more viable option than the United States, if only in the name of national pride. Canada was surprised by the sudden announcement of the Sussexes move, and the whole country was not sure if they wanted a Prince in their midst yet they tepidly agreed. However, their hosting country ultimately failed to oblige them in their overreaching demands. The Canadian government decreed that they would be required to pay taxes in both the United States and Canada if they were to split their time between both places.

It was difficult to digest that things werent going to be as seamless as they originally had imagined. Suddenly Harry was shocked to discover what he hadn’t ever bothered to consider. The Canadians took another unwelcome stance when they refused to foot their gargantuan security expenses. It left Harry feeling overly vulnerable. This prompted a quick departure to California in the less than 2 months following their arrival on North American soil. Canada saw no reason to be obliged to pay for an errant young prince’s protection out of pocket although Harry and Meghan’s narrative of events ended up being a variation of this with a great deal of creative license taken.

The Sussex made a short lived attempt to move to Canada in early 2020, which was extensively covered by the press. Canada did not wish to pay for their security detail, which came as a great blow to the couple.Harry complained they had been blindsided.

Prince Harry had been delusional enough to assume that personal security was his God given birthright, and that funds would be forthcoming from the Royal coffers as long as he graced the world with his presence. He later admitted that it had never occurred to him that he would not receive security for life. He still thinks it is automatically warranted simply because he is Harry.

It failed to register that in going rogue, the Royal purse-strings would no longer be open to him and as a non working Royal he would be reduced to the status of the rest of the civilian population. Harry indignantly equivocated over what he perceived to be a gross injustice.

He angrily protested. “I might have left my position in the family but I did not stop being a Prince.” It’s an oxymoron, but I think he means that he is owed security due to the mere circumstances of his birth. Apparently someone needs to gently inform him that this doesn’t apply if he runs away from home!

Moreover, the only Royals who receive unconditional security are the most senior Royals, including the Queen, Prince Charles and Camilla, as the Duchess of Cornwall and his brother and Cambridge family.

Royals like Princess Anne or Sophie, Countess of Wessex only receive security when performing engagements in relation to the Queen, but otherwise they do not receive publicly funded security. Moreover, it would be impossible for a security detail from the United Kingdom to provide security for a member of the Royal Family living in America for obvious political reasons. Not to mention that he really can’t expect to have everyone oblige his every whim.

It puzzles me that he thought that if he made the very serious decision to quit his job as a working Royal, that the family would continue to financially support him. Moreover, taxpayers have a habit of not wanting to foot the bill for spoiled boys, but it would seem that he didn’t consider any of this seriously until after the fact. At least he described it as having shocked him. “That was never part of the plan.” he clarified. “Although we didn’t have a plan” he added, almost as an ironically revealing afterthought.

Suddenly he had to grapple with the brevity of not having unconditional financial backup, albeit having millions from his own inheritance, unlike most people. Generally speaking, family men in their 30s are not supported by their parents or grandparents, but this was precisely what he had told his own family that he wanted. What this meant moving forward was that he was now liberated and free. Yet he most transparently didn’t have a plan as stated, and desperately needed to figure things out in the spur of the moment.

Unlike average adults nearing their 40th year, the Sussex bunch needed lots of extra help because they couldn’t do anything without assistance. Lucky for them that they received a generous offer of a house, with full security coverage in Southern California, a stone’s throw from where Meghan had grown up. That perked them up! They made a fast beeline from Canada to Beverly Hills, quicker than you could say “Hapless Harry.”

Harry and Meghan stayed as guests at Tyler Perry’s home upon their arrival in Los Angeles. Contrary to what has been said, it was the Canadian government which was responsible for stripping them of security, although the Royal Family demurred from chipping in to help them out following their departure from the U.K.

They made it to the Westernmost United States intact, assuming the pathetic mantle of displaced refugees. They didn’t know what to do next as they scouted out their prospects.

Meghan and Harry share a propensity to make things up as they go along. Whether it’s a foundation to use as a lifeline-tax shelter or a rudimentary five year plan, or even talking smack to reporters off the cuff, you name it! They prefer to let their impulses guide them. But landing on the coast of Southern California somehow didn’t seem entirely accidental as much as they insisted that it was. They acted like they had no independent agency and it was as if the wind had aimlessly blown them straight to Meghan’s homeland of it’s own volition.

They spent the bulk of Harry’s inheritance on an exciting new home in an exclusive enclave outside of Santa Barbara, and picked up a few rescue chickens to make it seem more organic. They had plenty of space on 7.5 acres of land with a 9 bedroom, 18.7 thousand square foot mansion. They began brokering a few lucrative, if questionable business deals based on their experience, or lack thereof. Much of the time it has been like watching a train wreck unfold, because their ideas are not always pragmatic or thought through.

Harry doesn’t realize that his Royal status is his most valuable asset, and fancies himself to be a savvy businessman while Meghan knows all too well that their Royal status is what needs to be monetized most. She brazenly uses the “Duchess of Sussex” title though she declares it has been the source of much pain, if only to make a quick buck.

They believed that endorsement deals and speaking engagements would be instantly forthcoming and at first they were right. Netflix bit the worm on their hook and hired them to create and produce new content for their platform. Spotify followed suit. Those deals, initially seemed like lucrative contracts, but have yet to pay off, and the public isn’t holding their breath anymore. None of their concepts seem like promising ideas after a few minutes.

In the midst of all of the deals on the table and the chickens clucking around the backyard, the Sussex transplants did not seem to be enjoying their newfound “freedom.” Prince Harry seemed glum. Meghan made an ill fated attempt on her 40th birthday to get women to mentor women who had lost their jobs due to Covid for 40 minutes that seemed wholly nonsensical. If you lost your job to Covid, why do you need to be mentored? Don’t you just need another job? And what is 40 minutes going to actually do to help someone struggling? It was just another predictable debacle.

Meghan seems to think that the world observes her birthday like they honor National Holidays. For her 40th birthday last August, she asked women to get 40 women to “mentor” a woman who had lost her job to Covid for 40 minutes, but it was an abstract idea, that fizzled out in less than 4 days.

There might have been some bumps in the road to relocating, but they still had achieved what they set out to do since abandoning the much less ostentatious Frogmore Cottage for celebrity culture by the Pacific Ocean. Everything should have been peachy because they ultimately got everything that they had insisted they really wanted. Yet for some reason, they envisioned themselves as beleaguered, mistreated victims at the hands of a punitive oligarchy. Instead of enjoying their sun soaked lives, they inexplicably carried around gigantic chips on their shoulders.

Simmering underneath the surface, a vengeful volcano prepared to explode. In March of last year, about 12 months after their arrival in California in their quest toward independence, they decided they desperately needed to get a few things off their chest.

Their notorious interview with their neighbor and talk show host Oprah Winfrey, permanently cemented their reputations as the most ungrateful, egocentric, fair weather relations in recent history! People around the world were watching and the aftershocks from their version of events from the 18 months following their fairytale wedding are reverberating still.

The shocking narrative of Meghan’s life with Prince Harry’s family, as well as their impressions of senior family members, has managed to foster as much damage as a Category 4 hurricane. They planted seeds for future discord that have bloomed into bad situations today, but their duplicitous natures were not lost on everyone watching.

Harry and Meghan’s reverberating sit down with Oprah Winfrey where they made shocking allegations against Harry’s family, the same day that Queen Elizabeth gave a televised message for Commonwealth Day, while Prince Philip lay sick in the hospital. He called the whole thing “madness” and he died 3 months later on June 10th.

The barrage of embellished claims of racism and cruelty from members of Prince Harry’s family, as well as the people of his native country were flabbergasting as well as disproportionately exaggerated. The duo maintained they had been forced to flee from racism only to come to the United States, which is not exactly known for being a bastion of tolerance. Coming from someone who once paraded around with a swastika armband, Harry’s memories of who he once was were conveniently forgotten.

The pair also expressed repeated concerns for their family’s “safety” although their security had never been in question while they were working members of the British Royal Family. For people so preoccupied with protecting themselves, they relocated to a land that is notorious for gun violence and mass shootings, though Harry’s conviction that he shouldn’t be obliged to fund his own security was unwavering. Hypocrisy runs rampant in their lengthy list of complaints, and their passive aggressive assertions were only met with stony silence on the other side of the pond.

Harry & Meghan’s interview with Oprah marked the end of any future gatherings with the Queen on the balcony as part of the immediate family. They are no longer working Royals and their presence is no longer required.

Had they held their own council rather than choosing to profit from torture that they purport to have allegedly suffered at the hands of not only Harry’s family, but his home nation, along with the ever fickle press, they might have been spared the vitriol that they have courted by being divisive and confrontational. But they went ahead and whined like callous brats, making a lot of enemies in the process while their popularity nosedived.

Giving such a memorable interview has created its own problems. Their allegations were jaw dropping, but not everyone believed them. Some people felt bad for them, and romanticized their decision to break free from the constraints of Royal life, but many others were unimpressed and didn’t view them sympathetically. If anything, Harry’s assertions revealed a petulant and stubborn Prince who had failed to get his own way. They both seemed intent on making the Royal family look bad, using vengeful tactics that were manipulative as well as being unfair. They knew all too well that the family wouldn’t be able to respond to their damning allegations as the couple dealt out a series of low blows, that hit right below the belt.

They continue to spin exaggerated tales that are inaccurate and abstract, while never retracting any of their claims in the 15 eventful months since their sit-down tell-all. They have not only caused an ongoing feud between themselves and Harry’s extended family, but they have also alienated people from everywhere in the world.

They have foolishly stood by the many lies they have employed to bolster their hyped up victimhood. So it isn’t surprising that the couple refuses to accept responsibility for any of their own actions. Prince Harry is foolhardy, believing that his family ought to be sorry for not being nice enough to him and his bristling bride which is not only preposterous, it’s delusional and impossibly tough to digest.

This has invariably caused Prince Harry’s family to completely lose trust in him. His troublesome wife has also distinguished herself as a veritable headache. Their accusations have been a continual source of embarrassment for the Royal Family who have remained stoic in their reserve. It’s too bad that the Sussexes haven’t adopted the Queen’s own motto to “never complain and never explain.” In airing the family’s dirty laundry, they have made themselves look petty and infantile.

Meanwhile, Harry’s economy with the truth has called his integrity into question on more than one occasion. He somehow believes he is beyond reproach, digging himself more deeply into his own hole so that it will take a forklift to ever get him out of it. This has been unjustifiably unpleasant for the entire Royal Family who have faithfully supported him through everything in the past. It is has also been a betrayal of immense proportions.

If this weren’t bad enough, Prince Harry is threatening more personal disclosures about his father and other Royal Family members in a future confessional autobiography. He doesn’t have anything to sell except strife, conflict and friction. Such a tome is sure to capitalize on disproportionately distorted fabrications that won’t be a good look for anyone.

Recent negotiations have also formulated a televised reality show of Harry and Meghan’s lives, which is a driving contradiction for people who have constantly whined about their privacy. Harry has even stressed his great distaste for the parallels between himself and the movie “The Truman Show” which chronicled a man trapped within an endless televised drama. Now he’s creating the exact same thing for himself by emulating the Kardashians.

The Sussexes are capitalizing on their Royal name again but they have nothing of note to show audiences. Watching them fumble along is like the blind leading the blind. Prince Harry amuses himself by playing polo, while his wife descends on any event as long as it includes a staged photo op. The half baked ventures that they come up with have a bad habit of falling flat and to the wayside.

It was painful to watch them arrive at the Queen’s Jubilee with expectations of being welcomed with open arms. We saw them getting booed down by resentful crowds and we saw how Harry pouted over his lowered status in the family, confined to the middle of the second row, and kept far out of the spotlight. He chose this path because he wrongly thought himself to be invincible. It is just beginning to dawn on him that this isn’t a temporary scrape that the Royal family is willing to bale him out of. He scornfully blames them all right now for putting him in his place.

Yet regardless of what has happened, and the growing animosity which has caused a huge rift between Prince Harry, his father, brother and grandparents, he will always remain a member of the British Royal Family.

They have a perfectly good reason to be upset. Harry has let them all down and they have been hurt by his revenge tactics, all borne from reactionary drama. But they have not yet excised him completely from their lives. He is their son and grandson, their cousin and Prince William’s brother. He’s uncle Harry, nephew Harry, godchild Harry and veteran Harry. What has happened before remains.

An apology would assuredly be a very welcomed gesture, but it’s impossible to forgive someone who is angry and not in the least bit sorry. Therefore an apology coming from Harry doesn’t seem to be in the cards any time soon, especially based on their last trip to the United Kingdom that lasted less than 4 days, when they left earlier than scheduled.

But it’s comically childish for Harry to expect to be warmly received by his relatives until he makes a sincere attempt at reconciliation. He has much to lose if he refuses to be contrite. His ingratitude has eclipsed his former likability, and he needs to suck it up and ask for their forgiveness.

This especially applies to his father and brother, but amends are in order all around the board for his odious behavior since his marriage to Meghan Markle. This might require having to be a supplicant for his wife as well as for himself, but he must be willing to reach an understanding either with or without her help.

Until then he will be compelled to remain with Meghan, bloated with self import and smiling like the Cheshire Cat, while Prince Harry glowers across two oceans, adrift in California, without an anchor or a clue.
