This is the absolute state of freedom of speech in Europe. They’re jailing patriotic dissidents. Next time they’ll do this to me, you or anyone who goes against the globalist regime. I’m seriously lost for words here. This is full blown tyranny and we should fight it with all our might.

Her tweet was noticed by X owner Elon Musk. He initially reacted very briefly with the word “Whoa” to the news.

Van Langenhove himself decided to provide Musk with more explanation and shared an example of the memes included in the file. “The ‘shocking memes’ that others shared in a private group conversation got me jailed,” he wrote. “Someone else sent this meme in a group chat, and you got jail time?” Musk responded. “Yes,” Van Langenhove answered. “Although the judge (and the media) admitted that I never sent any of these memes, he stated that I should have done more to stop others from sending them and labeled the memes as ‘hate speech,’ which is a criminal offense in Belgium.”

Van Langenhove then goes on to give Musk even more context and makes an attempt to regain his organization’s X account in one move. “I founded Schild & Friends, the largest and most influential political youth movement in Belgium, in 2017. Some time later, it was banned from Twitter for no reason. We had (allegedly) a FB group with 900 activists and a Discord chat with many hundreds of users. In one of the groups, someone said ‘post your edgiest meme.’ The edgy memes mentioned above were posted in this thread—a thread I didn’t participate in. Now, 7 years later, I am the most important nationalist activist in Belgium and the Netherlands, and I am associated with the party that will win the next elections in Belgium. The regime wants to silence us, so they are using memes posted by others 7 years ago to put me in jail.”
